Was it ever explained why God hardened the Pharaoh's heart? Do I need to read the book?
>>219371711He wanted to show off all of his cool powers but the pharaoh got too spooked by the first one.
All "angels" in the bible were originally minor deities, as explained in the Book of Enoch. When the Davidic dynasty took over Israel they retconned and censored the bible to remove all references to the lesser deities, resulting in a confusing narrative where God constantly contradicts himself and an angel called "Satan" shows up without ever being explained or introduced. "Satan" later absorbed Zoroastrian's concept of an evil god and had become a full fledged adversary to God by the time of the New Testament.
I always questioned that verse, just the translation of it.

>>219371711>why he did it?So the pharaoh goes all-in in his cruelty against the people of God. Why? So in the future stories could be told about how the mighty Egypt challenged the will of Jehovah and his chosen faggots, and got what they deserved. Shitty move by Jehovah to create the conditions so he could torture the pharaoh and the people of Egypt to his heart content. And all this for what? so people around the world will hear stories about how he humbled the son of the Sun himself, but hey, we're talking about a jewish deity here who later killed the whole generation of his chosen ones who escaped Egypt and much later genocided the land of Canaan so they got their promised land. More like stolen land amirite? Jew celebrates this even though none of this ever happened except in the mind of the jew
>>219371711Pharaoh was never going to let them go in the first place, but God wanted the jews to get out of Egypt with a bang so he took no chances. Also, small funny detail that's almost never mentioned, shortly before the jews left God made the Egyptian women extra susceptible so they would agree when the jews asked them if they could "borrow" objects made from silver and gold. Later the jews used those to build the Ark of the Covenant and the various crafted items for its cult.
God had decided to pass judgment on Pharaoh and Egypt for their actions. The door was closed for repentance at the point God was speaking to Moses. The Pharaoh had refused to do things the easy way solike he did with the flood and the way God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.Old testament God did not play around.
>>219372875My country turned atheist when in the 19th century explorers started to unearth ancient civilizations and some British dude wrote a book about evolution.Turns out nothing in the Bible is real. Mother fucking Chinks had cities that predate the Jew and they don't mention this god in their records AT ALL.And then to ad insult to injury they found dinosaur bones.
>>219371711He didn't want it to be too easy or else the hebrews wouldn't appreciate their deliverance enough. So he added some layers of resistance until at last they would be free. Unfortunately the hebrews could not defy their nature.

>>219371965Yeah out of curiosity I looked at a couple ways it's been translated awhile back>NLT: Pharaoh’s heart, however, remained hard. He still refused to listen, just as the Lord had predicted.>YLT: and the heart of Pharaoh is strong, and he hath not hearkened unto them, as Jehovah hath spoken.>CEV: The king behaved just as the Lord had said and stubbornly refused to listen.all the christfag larper posts itt are literally just arguing in favor of a mistranslation (of which the kjv has many)
>>219374866>the worst of the worst were properly dealt with throughout history I can't believe that. Jews are still as much scum today as they were 2,500 years ago.

>>219371711Can someone explain why Aaron thought it would be an good idea to light insense at the altar right after getting freedom from Egypt?Seems kinda weird that god would smote him for something like
>>219374959all of these things mean the same thing retard. if you cant read past contemporary colloquialisms to see the same message in each translation then you're autistic. the point is that the pharaoh was a proud and respected man of status, a king of the world, who cared more about his word than the word of God. he listened to his heart over the heart of God.
>>219371711I think God goes less manipulative at the end but more at the beginning. God was really protective over the people who believed in Him to absurd degrees. Even if He has to wipe everyone out with a meteorite to stop their evil wretched ways in case it spreads in all of humanity and ruins his plan, that is what he has to do. Basically, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. The woman who metaphorically looks back and turns into salt. As if to say if you ever think back fondly to these wicked times, I want you dead too. Total cleansing. God will always intervene to keep "his side in the game" alive. All of this without ever giving up the game that God exists because if this happened then good or evil would not be found or worst case scenario everyone would turn evil and call themselves Holy in Gods Name. Its like the Prime Directive from Star Trek.
>>219374959The KJV is one of the most incorrect translations of the Bible.
>>219375165>And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them. That is not the same thing as any of those, retard, nor is it some sort of old timey way of saying things. They mistranslated the Pharaoh's heart being hardened as being made hardened. It's the reason threads like OP's exist, it's why there's a thousand and one articles about why it makes sense, and why you're insisting it's exactly the same and the KJV isn't a trash translation is beyond me
>>219371793Interesting, can you share some useful links on the topic? I unironically like to read this kind of stuff.
>>219374959Exodus 9:12>NLT: But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and just as the Lord had predicted to Moses, Pharaoh refused to listen.>YLT: And Jehovah strengtheneth the heart of Pharaoh, and he hath not hearkened unto them, as Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses.>CEV: Everything happened just as the Lord had told Moses—he made the king too stubborn to listen to Moses and Aaron.

>>219376395There is no archaeological evidence of it, no Egyptian records of a mass of Jewish slaves leaving or even existing within Egypt. There were times in which Judea was within the influence or control of an Egyptian entity, so it is perhaps possible Exodus is influenced by one of those times when the peoples of Judea were subjects of the Pharaoh.
>>219376395No evidence has been found of it. There are contradictions in the bible as well. But going by pattern recognitionJews probably tried subverting and stealing Egypt. They got smacked down. Tried poisoning some wells and called it a divine plague. Finally got kicked out then turned it into a narcissistic fantasy about god helping them and they were victims.
>>219375775The way i understand it, by 'strenghtening his heart' god gave him the courage to stand by his convictions, meaning that when pharaoh relented it would be from understanding rather than fear. Wisdom gained the hard way rather than accidentally making the right choice due to panic.
>>219376553The local elites had to send their sons as hostages to Egypt. So maybe something happened and they were all able to return at once which warped into the exodus.
>>219374947I swear that “slave” was a mistranslation remember watching it in some documentary trying to find the historical exodus. And the word would actually closer to mercenary or something along this lines.

>>219377826In islam the Jews weren’t enslaved they were just being treated unfairly and didn’t yet know God’s plan for them.
>>219376395>how true is the the gist of the exodus story?completely false unless you believe the theory that the Hebrews are descended from the Hyksos and Exodus is them playing victim about being overthrown and expelled from a land they conquered, which is also probably not true, but it's the only explanation that could have any basis other than total fiction

>>219374959>Cherry picks the wrong verse Amazing. Every single version of the Bible that has even a half decent translation (this includes the RSV even if Evangelicals hate it more than trannies), goes off the original language not a translation of a translation like the KJV was (partly), and they all say that God hardened Pharaoh's heart. You can't find a single original text that contradicts this, which is why we have apologetics in the first place because instances like this fuck with the belief of inerrancy and infallibility concerning the Bible. Yet plain text reading clearly shows that God stripped the pharaoh of his free will, and did something he knew would result in a monstrous outcome all because the God of the OT and NT is an inconsistent, capricious monster. I'd argue that practically any other god (or pantheon of gods save for shit like the whatever the fuck was going on in South America) would be a better exemplar of good.
