What are some tropes that only exist in movies? My friend and I were talking the other day about how so many movies seem to have a "camera follows a 10 year old boy wearing a baseball cap riding a bike with a leather bag full of newspapers down the middle of the street until he gets to the main character's house and the character opens his front door" but paperboys haven't been a thing for decades.
>>
Have you ever been to a kissing booth?
>>
>>219384276
Boomers could literally pay $1 to kiss a pretty teenage girl, and it was legally binding. If you paid the dollar she HAD to kiss you.

>paperboys haven't been a thing for decades.
That's not true. They're just 45 years old and drive a buick lesabre instead of riding a bike.
>>
I once paid a girl in a kissing booth $5 and she just took my money and laughed at me.

And rather than delivering the papers through the letterbox like they are paid to the twat paperboy flings them in the general girection of the homes like frisbees. The papers land in flowerbeds amd occasionaly break plantpots or windows and are always outside, which must ruin them if it starts to rain.

For some reason nome of the people complain to the papershop about the paperboy's destructive and/or lackadaisical behaviour, and they get to keep their job.

>>219387894
Nah they were replaced by stuff like McDonald's
>>
>>219387944
Most McDonald's don't let you in at e in the morning, even if their drive through is open. Diners got replaced by IHOPs/Denny's, anon

Pre-covid 24 hour businesses were more widespread, but 24 hour diners are still common along interstate highways where they cater to truckers and other travelers. I love going to Waffle House in the middle of the night.

You people are all flyover hicks and it shows, but that's okay.
In non-bumfuck areas, basically meaning the Northeastern Corridor, or other real cities (Chicago, SF, LA, etc), the 24-hour Greek diner remains a staple. Lots of them dropped it after COVID, mainly because they couldn't hire staff for their shit wages to work the shit hours, but cities in those areas tend to still have at least one that's always open. And because they're a staple, you can actually visit one without entering the hood or having to worry about getting shot.
Waffle House, ihop, Denny's are not real diners and never will be, they're crappy chains usually located in ghettos and almost exclusively patronized by truckers, drunk blacks, and old fucks at sunrise. Their food sucks ass.

So you live in a sleepy town famous only for its snoozer tourist attractions and think that's the kind of city I'm talking about?

The objectively statistically three worst places to live in the country lmao. Stopped reading there

I live in DC and 24/7 diners are without question not a thing unless you're talking Denny's or IHOP.

Because I’m not gambling the money I’ve earned between work and stocks on some young, stupid wagie who’ll probably pop out a kid that isn’t mine and divorce me to take half my shit. I’d rather a genuine relationship. Failing that, if I die alone I’d rather my money be donated to a charity to help children in need.
>>
You're quickly turning into "well if you haven't had my mother's hot cocoa you've never had hot cocoa m" but actually meaning it. Eventually the only thing that's going to count as a Real City is your bathroom.

I got to where I could get the paper right in front of the door as I rode past. Most of the time. Occasionally I would get one of those throws where nothing went right and be off quite a bit and they'd have to find the paper in the bushes or something. Only took out one window pane though. Sundays sucked because the paper was so big I could only carry about 6 and had to hand carry each one up and place it in front of the door. Took hours to bag (no rubber bands holding *that* shit together) and deliver. Mondays were great because I could carry the whole route at once and be done in about an hour.

Fucking christ gramps, nobody fucking asked! Shut the fuck up you sack of shit, go to bed. At least pretend you're talking about television or film.

>>219389660
I genuinely don't understand why big city dwellers who rarely leave their own neighborgoods think anybody living outside of that narrow cultural context "doesn't count" as if anybody else in the world cares about what street signs you live between.
