What am I in for? I read the Crichton book when I was like 14
Anti-Ape laser
>>219384213Tim Curry has a funny accent and they kill gorillas with a laser beam.
>>219384213What is it about monkeys that makes them so funny?
People are going to say "kino" but it's godawful
>>219384213cheesy fun
>>219384213I like it. Its a good movie.
>>219384213Pretty enjoyable
>>219384213Hot air balloon. Talking monkey. Satellite phone. Ghostbusters guy
>>219384213Awful shit. Love it. Fun as hell.
>>219384213Anti-Gorilla lazer beam and explaining to a friend in the room that yes, hippos are actually really dangerous and territorial.
>>219384213Sesame cake
>>219384344>Hot air balloonThis was the only bad part
>>219384437True shit. Hippos are the #1 killer of humans out of all animals.
>>219384261Joy of dance, lack of reading comprehension, living on ebt
>>219384213Jungle kino
The book was bad and the movie was also bad.
>>219384892>The book was badThe book was great. You have awful taste.
>>219384213>What am I in for? I read the Crichton book when I was like 14Its basically the same plot as the book, but there are differences here and there. The book was better though
>>219385267The book is always better. No exceptions.
>>219384213>What am I in for? IThe first part of the film when they're on an expedition to get to the lost city going through bumfuck nowhere Africa dealing with third world warlords is a lot of fun. Ernie Hudson and Tim Curry are both great, unfortunately the film flopped and fucked both of their careers. The end of the movie is very silly and over the top; but its still fairly entertaining slop.I'd say its worth a watch. You get about 70% fun African action adventure and about 30% scifi monkey nonsense.
>>219384567
>>219385393Neither Ernie Hudson or Tim Curry had a career to ruin.Tim Curry is always in low budget kino.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1Sq1Nr58hM
>>219385393>>219385500Its a fair point; but this was supposed to be a movie that was going to give both of their careers a boost because it was a big budget blockbuster and instead it had the opposite effect because it flopped and everyone had unrealistic expectations about it because they expected it to be the next Jurassic Park.
>>219385393Ernie was great in this
>>219384213>its cong-over
>>219385617>because it was a big budget blockbusterNo it wasn't.
>>219384213I remember the merch for this movie more than I do the actual film.I had the drinking cup for a really long timeIf tim currey was in it I would not have remembered. This was not "Jurassic Park with Apes" or "Twister with Apes"; it did not meet the critical merit of those films in either way.
>>219384977No the book was bad and filled with 70s techno babble that went on for pages.
>>219386151So just like Jurassic Park? And Andromeda Strain? And every other Michael Chrichton book ever?
>>219384213You are going to be thinking about fucking Laura Linney for the rest of your days
>>219385617Nobody ever thought that
>>219386196No. I've read every Crichton book. Only Congo is filled with literal [code] and boring shit. Also airframe kinds sucked. I generally liked the rest of his books
it sucks
>>219384213Everyone on the internet hates it, everyone in real life loves it.
>>219386475I liked airframe. Wouldn't have minded a film adaptation
>>219386475>I've read every Crichton book. Only Congo is filled with literal [code] and boring shitLiterally and verifiably false.
I fuckin love Robbie Williams
>>219386475Piggyback slurp
WHO'S KAFKA? TELL ME
>>219386619STOPEATINGMY SEASAME CAKE
>>219386680I loved that guy.>Don't want nobody peeking....>staple staple
>>219384213The ultimate Pepsi movie Book was Crichton kino
>>219386680lol
>>219384437reminds me what happen to the hungry hungry hippos movie an israeli planned to make?
>>219384213Mr. Homolka... stop eating my sesame cake.
>>219384260I read the book as a kid and saw the movie as a kid and the only thing I remember about this was a joke on King of the Hill where Peggy gets a prostitute to read it in preparation for her GED.
>>219384977>>219385308The Terminal Man is my favorite of his. I didn't know about the movie until much later, avoided it, at least Congo had a Hollywood garbage pedigree.
>>219384558Polar bears are the most fierceless killers in the animal kingdom.
>>219387107You know I'm tired of people saying Congo the movie is bad.Its entertaining, its quotable, people like it, its a good movie.
>>219387128>fiercelessThey're without fierce?
>>219384558So true, also not many know this but hitting water from that height is like hitting concrete
>>219386588Kek
>>219385717>>219386332I'm 42 dude, I remember this coming out in theaters. It was hyped as the next Jurassic Park because it was Crichton's next book which has also been a best seller. They threw a lot of money at it, it was released as a summer blockbuster and the critics went to town on it and it lost a bunch of money.
>>219387609From the top of the raft to the water you can reach terminal velocity which is 120 mph
>>219387669>They threw a lot of money at itIt does not have a super high budget anon. And I'm 45 I was there as well. I don't remember any of what you are saying.
>>219387359Right, they just delete you without even noticing you were there. Whites of all species are the definition of the banality of evil.
>>219385393The only thing I remember from watching the movie is tonal whiplash from the end when it suddenly turns into sci-fi with a crazy monkey laser. Though now that I think about it, we have those crazy water pressure cutters that use pressurized water to cut things. I wonder if you could cut a monkey in half with one of those.
Kiiiiiiiiiiiinnnooooooo
>>219388656Did no one watch the beginning where Bruce Campbell shows off the laser and how powerful it could be?
>>219384213Very scary when I saw it at the theater at like 12yo or some shit. Strange because it wasn't marketed as some horror movie, more like adventure type shit.
>>219384558When will we address the Hippo Menace? Orange Man needs to get on this. We could send SEAL Team 6 after those violent fucks.
>>219389077Are you kidding? We need to HARNESS that power! We could have a horde of Hippo commandos working for us. We could air drop them into hostile cities and they're be murdering everyone and distracting the enemy!
>>219389180Hippo cavalry unironically sounds fucking amazing.
>>219384213It's okay, just feels really rushed once they actually get to the jungle
>>219384213The movie was shite, but the book was great.>>219386680HAVE! SOME!
>>219389233Elephants and hippos are the best animals to bring into battle
>>219393472Has any civ brought hippos to battle? Genuinely curious on this one.
>>219393593I don't think they can be very far away from rivers or other bodies of water.
>>219393645Fair enough.
>>219393645They would dominate river battles. They are fast as fuck, can catch speed boats and flip them over.
i like when monke jump into lava
>>219393854Kinda funny that this place has been there for tens of thousands of years and just as soon as the humans show up decides to erupt and be destroyed forever
>>219394128They are talking about the volcanic activity and the fact that it will blow up since the beginning of the movie.
>>219384213its cringe and based
They make a rig that takes sign language and turns it into a voice, and this gorilla roasts the fuck out of everyone. I think that’s why we stopped teaching them to sign.
>>219394266Yes, still funny. They trained those apes to protect the mines and they've been guarding it for so long. Then the exact moment when the diamonds would be useful for a telecommunications satellite, is when the mountain erupts.
>>219384213It's bad but it's so bad that it's kinda good.
>>219394422Amy, Good Gorilla
>>219384476
>>219394426Its more like, they feel the need to go gather diamonds in the congo right when they detect massive volcanic activity.Yes they are stupid.
Mister Homoka...
>>219386985N-
>>219394461They gave themselves as much leeway as possible with an exotic setting, iconic actors, and featured creatures. The actual script, direction, editing etc. used up almost all of that leeway. We're still talking about it now because of the actors, people give so much leeway to any shitty pulp adventure with Tim Curry. Star system worked.
>STOP EATING MY SESAME CAKE!
Why does no one talk about the fact that most apes on the edge of extinction and that 3rd worlders can't help but torture and treat them like shit. These people are literally destroying their rainforests for a quick buck and random villagers love kidnapping them and throwing them into wooden crates (people in these places have some weird autistic obsession with shaving their heads too for no fucking reason) These people don't deserve to live around such animals with the way they treat them. There was one case in Indonesia where some villagers were keeping an Orangutan as a prostitute and that they had to have a bunch of police officers armed with assault rifles (not pic related).I don't hear enough people talk about this shit. It's fucking sad.
>>219397976>*They had to have a bunch of police officers armed with assault rifles to rescue the orangutan
>>219384213PURE UNADULTERATED KINOPlus a great sentry turret scene.
>>219397976Yeah it fucked. Apes have one of the strongest bonds in nature with their mothers as babies and 3rd worlder faggots love ripping them away from their mothers and killing them while they sell the baby on the black market. I hate these mother fuckers like you wouldn't believe. It's unreal. You can tell too when ape babies are traumatized just by looking in their eyes. You can tell their soul has been broken when this shit happens to them. And to make matters worse they stuff them in a cage for the rest of their lives.
>>219386680For me it was when he put all of his shakedown cash in a paper bag and stapled it shut so nobody would 'peek'.The little detail and flourish made the scene kino.
>>219397976>some villagers were keeping an Orangutan as a prostitute
>>219398164We'll just post the clip for the plebs who haven't seen the kino.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fbGbPwKbQA
>>219398270Aww it cuts off right the before the "don't want nobody peeking" part.
the talking monkey's robot voice is asian sounding
>>219385393i love that they can't move throu africa without everybody chimping out and trying to kill them
>>219384558Wrong. I don't know what are the deadliest but I know for a fact deer kill more people than hippos do every year.
the idea of King Solomon having diamond mines in Africa that were guarded by specially bred gorilla guards that ended up killing everyone in order to protect the diamonds is fucking top kinounfortunately the movie itself is just fun and goofy schlock
>>219398350https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_roxE2sa-0here you go
>>219397976Everyone is too mentally retarded to care. I fucking hate the human race it's beyond unreal. They don't deserve the world they get. I hope it all dies in a nuclear fire one day. I hate even calling myself human
Whatever happened to the white pilot with the twirly mustache? He disappears after everyone starts jumping out of the plane and is never seen again. I know he didn't stay on the plane since Munro says the pilots already left and he's not seen in the rest of the expedition. Always bugged me as a kid.
A cinematic masterpiece.
>>219398864Much obliged.
>>219398894This. The human race doesn't deserve to live because they can't use their fucking heads for once
>>219398864I still laugh at his>Liar liar you're pants on fire
>>219398942They gave him his own animated spinoff show called wild thornberrys.
Someone post a webm or video of the ray gun scene.
>>219399134Top shelf comment, old boy. Hearty kek.
>>219387669https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQedHaqR8SgI watched this in the theaters too. I didn't really have any hype going in other than Bruce Campbell's cameo.
>>219397976Nobody cares because the human race deserves to go extinct too. I say fuck them all. Let the human race die off from their stupidity. I've given up on the human race personally
>>219397976Unironically I think chimpanzees ruined it for all apes. With the rise of the internet, everyone has heard stories or watched videos (both real and fictional) of chimps attacking people and disfiguring them for life. Back in the 90s the media made all apes out to be peaceful like whales.
>>219399762That webm was legit terrifying. What could you even do in that situation as a kid? It is strange how chimps got so much attention despite being violent psychopaths where peaceful bonobos, who are virtually identical to chimps, get overlooked. Maybe they like humping things too much.
>>219400098Its because to normies everything is just monkeys.
>>219397976Orangs are polite gentlemen
We had it on laserdic I loved watching this when I was a kid for some reason
>>219384213Did you give her the banana with the dope inside?? Yes, IGAVEHERTHEBANANAWITHTHEDOPEINSIDE
>>219385308The Ninth Gate movie is better than the book.
>>219403754I haven't read the book but I doubt it.
