I'm 50+, this is my generation. I never watched it. My best bro hung himself in his parent's based right before graduation.

Should I watch it... now?
>>
>>219393325
Why did you murder your best bro and try to make it look like a suicide?
>>
>>219393502
dude... wtf man. Is this some kind of ironic zoomer-humor? I don't get it. RUDE!

you are a direct result of dad's that don't slap some sense into their kids.
>>
>>219393325
Nice shower titties in this movie.
It wasn't your fault.

Based on what?
>>
The Breakfast Club > Sixteen Candles
>>
>>219394021
never seen sixteen candles but the breakfast club is absolute trash.

Yes. It's funny and it'll remind you of bygone times.

Can't handle life yet has the guts to end it.

he would have liked that. I used to go pour his fav brew on his grave, don't live near there for many years now.
>>
>>219393325

Hanged
>>
>>219394021
I never liked either of them. I will say Some Kind of Wonderful is superior to Pretty in Pink though.
>>
>>219394229
Can confirm it does. I'm here right now. With you. All of you.

you fucking retards not recognizing the quote without a picture, fucking zoomer esls
>>

It really hasn't aged well. There's a racist Asian comic relief character.

The heroine is portrayed as innocent and sweet but keeps using slurs like f*ggot.

And the love interest jock guy encourages his new Freshman buddy to have lose his cherry with his girlfriend because she's passed out and on the pill.
>>
Looks like pretty standard lowbrow pop culture slop not sure why shit from the 80’s has so much permanence
>>
>>219393625
LMAO your best bro is dead and I can see why
>>
>>219393325
I'm 50 and never seen 16 Candles. At this point I don't know why I would watch a movie about teen romance and high school drama. Also in retrospect I don't think The Breakfast Club was a good movie.
>>
>>219393325
I get this one and Pretty In Pink mixed up
>>
>>219394021
>>219394084
Both of these comments are true
>>
AUTOMOBILE?!
>>
>>219393325

This neighbor girl I grew up died the summer after we graduated circa mid 2000's. She was dating this older dude, failson from a rich family. He was driving drunk and she was in the passenger seat. He crashed in such a way that he was fine but she was splattered. He wasn't charged or anything and apparently got lots of pussy thrown his way by hamming up the tragic dude with a dead girlfriend angle.
>>
>>219393325
I fail to see the correlation between your friend's suicide and this movie.

Are you saying your friend killed himself because you refused to watch this film? Like he was gay for you and this was his favorite film and he really wanted to watch it with you and make out afterwards but you said no so he killed himself? That's pretty fucked up man, you could've just taken one in the ass to save your bro's life
>>
>>219393625
You are bad at roleplaying Xboomers. Less effort. Its the x way

Reminder that no one should watch these movies anymore. They are problematic.

You should watch "At Close Range", it's also Mary Stuart Masterson kino.

And if you like watching Sean Penn's girlfriends get raped, follow it up with "Bad Boys". I like that rape more because it's Ally Sheedy from "Breakfast Club".

Then it gets really FUN if you pretend all these 80s flicks take place in a shared universe.

kek
the 80s really were based
>>
It's kind of funny how /tv/ never shows love for St. Elmos Fire. It has the Brat Pack but nobody ever includes it in the classics.
>>
>>219396035
I've never heard of At Close Range. I'll look into that. Thanks.
I had forgotten the title, but I've seen Bad Boys. Apparently, the rapist/rival played Adama's grandpa in Caprica lel
>>
>>219396407
>grandpa
dad?
>>219396209
Even though everyone is in it, for some reason it's less iconic than the others. Very melodramatic too
>>
>>219396407
Good eye! He reminds me of Benjamin Bratt.

I tried Caprica and to keep in all connected, it even starred Eric Stoltz from Some Kind of Wonderful. But I think they killed the cute girl off right away so I lost interest.
>>
Anybody seen this documentary?
It's a must watch for fans of the era, but it's really cringe. Especially as it's Andrew McCarthy tracking down The Brat Pack when it's always been widely debated on whether he was actually "in" the Brat Pack.

If he's in the gang, why not James Spader? Or why is Rob Lowe included? In Rob's defense though, I do recall him asking Andy, "Why are you interviewing me? I did one fucking movie."
>>
>>219395715
he was so overcome with grief that he couldn’t watch the movie
>>
Mare Winningham was unquestionably one of the Brat Pack at the beginning though she quickly pivoted to more grown up movies after St. Elmo's Fire. It's funny that she's had a long career, with many industry awards, but pretty much no one remembers her. Guess she's really good at being the unremarkable woman in the roles she plays.
>>
>>219397196
>Mare Winningham was unquestionably one of the Brat Pack
Laugh out loud
>>
>>219396209
it's a really cringy movie
all the characters are completely morally devoid and deplorable
>>
>>219397268
That's the simple reality no matter what you looking back at it now thinks of it.
>>
>>219393325
There's a very real possibility that you've built it up way too much in your mind by this point, it's literally a Hallmark movie, Molly Ringwald is super pretty but other than that, there's literally nothing good about it.

Same with the Breakfast Club, Molly and Ally are both gorgeous, especially Ally, and other than that, it's just a Hallmark movie. Nothing to write home about at all.
>>
I enjoyed the Hulu documentary and I've enjoyed all the 80s movies. I'm also 50 and I think I've pretty much watched all of them. I think weird science was probably my favourite. I still like breakfast club. Sixteen candles was kind of meh, maybe because I watched it for the first time a decade ago and didn't resonate with me as much.

I've still got to watch rumblefish and the outsiders and red dawn
>>
>>219396898
>Andrew McCarthy
He was kino in Less Than Zero
>>
why did they push anthony michael hall faggot nigger bitch
>>
>>219393325
>My best bro hung himself in his parent's based right before graduation.

You should check out Permanent Record. It's an 80s Keanu flick about this subject. Also, Sixteen Candles is really good but I prefer Pretty In Pink.
>>
>>219399515
>anthony michael hall
I think he had a falling out with the director and it pretty much killed his career (although Out of Bounds was kino).

I only found out recently that he was banging Molly Ringwald back then.
>>
>>219393325
It was fun while it lasted
>>
>>219395453
47 and yeah, I put on the breakfast club occasionally if it’s available on one of my services as background when I’m working. Not really rewatchable though. >>219396407
At close range is dark as fuck especially when you find out it’s based on a true story. Anon that suggested it to you is definitely into rape of young women.
>>
>>219396898
I started watching it but once it got into how racist these movies were because they weren’t diverse I shut it off. It wasn’t bad up to that point.

Watts. I watch for she.
>>
>>219401781
Yeah, I forgot about that part. Ally Sheedy in particular has a bone to grind. She lives in a shitty apartment and trooned out her son.

Molly wasn't in the doc, but she too is woke and angry. As is Judd Nelson. Emilio agreed to be on camera, but he's in that camp. The difference being is that he's trying to get Young Guns III made. So he needs the publicity.
