>>219406230>>219406293you really should not watch the TNG movies they are terrible. TAS is another option, it's aight.

Do we know how many thralls Klingons and Romulans have under them? Their empires are pretty big.
Why didn't DS9 and Voyager adhere to the whole "no warp 5+ unless it's an extreme emergency" thing set up in TNG?
>>219409507It was a writing hazard.
>>219409507Although it was never mentioned in the series, the idea behind variable-geometry warp nacelles (which Voyager had) was that it would prevent damage to subspace and the ship could easily vary the shape of the warp field to maximize efficiency and speed. As for DS9, I guess writers just didn't give a shit enough to come up with anything.

>According to George Takei, Tuvok actor Tim Russ made some changes to the script, immediately eliciting the writers to correct some discrepancies. (The Official Star Trek: Voyager Magazine issue 9) Takei explained, "He made script changes that made Tuvok's behavior consistent with Vulcan culture where the writers had been derelict. For example, the script suggested that Tuvok had an affair with a non-Vulcan before his pon farr. He made sure that was corrected." (Star Trek Monthly issue 22) Additionally, Russ inadvertently drove Brannon Braga to include more about Tuvok's backstory in the episode than had originally been scripted, being particularly instrumental in the writing of what Tuvok says to Janeway while in his bunk aboard the Excelsior. "Initially that whole speech wasn't in there, a page and a half of dialogue," Russ revealed. "She asked me, 'What made you come back to Starfleet?' and [Braga] had written some line which really wasn't consistent with Vulcan character. I said, 'Brannon, the line itself doesn't work.' So I said, 'Give him a real reason why he came back to Starfleet.' I expected a paragraph, and I ended up getting a page and a half of dialogue. Things like that do make a difference." (Cinefantastique, Vol. 29, No. 6/7, p. 100)based

>>219412915One thing that's interesting to me is the race that presents itself as all male and all gay. One of their marriage rituals involves one of them running away, and the other chasing them down to have sex with them. The runner does their best not to get caught, and thus, not fucked. There's also a story arc where it's revealed that the species is not all male, but there's a very low percentage of females who generally have state mandated gender changes or go live on a single, secret planet in exile/isolation from the rest of the species. Those who refuse to have their gender reassigned either live in secrecy or are straight up killed at a government black site.Really kind of wild.

>>219413191You can't compare today with yesterday by examining it through the same lens. When the character of Zefram Cochran was first portrayed on screen, it was a different time, and the people who were making the show, along with their audience, held values and beliefs that differ in many ways than those who were involved in the writing and presentation of the character in First Contact, which I would describe as a black-pilled perversion of the original character presented in Metamorphosis. The people in that earlier time were motivated by values and beliefs that championed the idea of enlightenment as being reserved to those who would aspire to goodness and heroism above the more common aspects of the human condition.Over time, what somehow overtook society, through the efforts of those who wish to do away with or destroy such enlightenment, was their own creation of the anti-hero. Through their efforts, the idea of what was, or was not a hero, was eventually changed into something less than it had been, something more common, something less good, something that has systematically raised the general esteem of those who do evil. Ergo, we have arrived at a point to where the idea of the original hero has been successfully perverted, and reduced to an object of suspicion of ulterior motive.
>>219421217Agreed. Now if there were only a way to convince the founder of the Federation, and it's precursor, the Space Force, to dissolve our political entanglements with the Ferengi homeworld, we might actually be able to focus more on exploration of our universe, as well as solutions to the improvement of the human condition than we presently do on military armaments and war.

>>219433096I've got mixed feelings about the whole Pah-Wraith story arc as a whole. On one hand, Dukat's entire Hitler to Antichrist arc is funny as fuck and Alaimo's performance is fun. On the other hand, it's frankly kinda retarded if you take it remotely seriously. Kai Winn is just swept up in all that as an additional casualty.
>>219435372for Dukat it's utterly retarded but for Kai Winn it's the culmination of her ALWAYS being a blaspheming evil cunt who was only ever after power for herself

Alright guys, watching DS9 S2 E18 "Profit and Loss" with a nice mug of Onions Milk.
I just realized that in Future's End Part I, Tuvok makes an incredibly illogical statement. He argues that taking a taxi, rather than stealing a truck, would have far less temporal impacts. That couldn't possibly be true, as stealing a truck directly impacts 1-3 people who may or may not use it, and several more officers if they report it stolen, whereas hailing a taxi immediately alters every single other person's cab rides, who they ride with, and their times. That's 25-75 people per taxi per day minimum, not including the driver or other drivers and their passengers, that are directly impacted by their interference.
>>219446227What? If they steal a truck then what about the load that the truck is presumably carrying? What about when it doesn't show up? There would be investigations from all over the place.
>>219442226You'd rather more ACK instead?
>>219446399No, it's like a normal pavement princess truck, it's not carrying anything, private property. I don't think even Tom could parse 12 gears in a big rig.
>>219446519No.
>>219446612Message received, funding additional seasons of Lower Decks as a compromise
>>219446586Oh right, it's been a while since I've seen the episode. We call those 'utes' here, not trucks where I'm from. I see what you're saying now.
I liked the Nog ptsd episode even though it seems weird no one on DS9 is concerned about Fontaine basically being a life form or worried he pulls a Moriarty
