Ricky and Steve both have West Country accents, which are usually associated with farmers, yokels, and the undereducated. They've gone through life facing people who look down on them because of the way they talk. As a coping mechanism, they bully and belittle Karl, attempting to prove to the world that they're actually very smart and enlightened.

Ricky is the worst part of this show. The way he interrupts Karl's stories half way through to call him names for 5 minutes gets old when it happens every episode.Also Karl must have had Ironhide skin because apparently he didn't even know Ricky that well before the show was made but Ricky harassed him like they were childhood friends
