They will do this, it will flop, and they will blame the audience they shunned when all they had to do was appeal to them.
>>
How the fuck are they supposed to make an adaptation that appeals to gamers when the whole point of the game is that everyone plays the story out differently?
>>
>>219415049
The only "mass effect" her is the mass effect caused by that tumor in your head causing your brain to atrophy.
>>
>we can't just have 3 bottle episodes in a row of characters tooling around in the Mako on some desert planet
producers simply cannot see the vision
>>
>>219415112
I'm guessing this is not a 1:1 adaptation and is just a story set in that universe.
>>
>>219415136
Do you feel smarter after typing that out?
>>
>>219415049
They should rewrite all the lore where they explicitly talk about White extinction, for sure.
>>
>>219415049
It's destined to suck either way.
>>
>>219415253
Any video game adaptation sucks, so yeah, but modern TV writing is especially bad because of the politics shoehorning.

>Any video game adaptation sucks
Because nobody takes videogames seriously, so executives just hire shit writers to awkwardly graft video game aesthetics and characters onto half-assed pre-existing scripts in a desperate attempt at name recognition and a quick payday.

Look at Hitman - they've made, what? Two? Three shitty adaptations of that now? And they all feel like someone took a shitty C-list action script that was floating around the studio, and they just crossed out the main character's name and wrote in 'Agent 47'. They all do the same shit that tanks the movie's reception: Centering the stories around shitty Donut Steele OC characters, throwing in retarded shit that has nothing to do with the source material its adapting - kung fu sword fights, nanomachine body armor, assassin superpowers, etc. The Day of the Jackal series shows how easily you could make a series about an assassin travelling to exotic locations and finding clever ways of killing high profile targets into an engaging drama. But you'll never see something like that attempted with the Hitman franchise because nobody takes videogames seriously.
>>

>Because nobody takes videogames seriously
Bingo. They need to hire people who actually give a shit about the medium, but it seems like most directors are resentful of the source material.
>>
>>219415049
They'll make it about the quarians and how brave they are as a species. Joker gets elevated into a superhero because of his brittle bones disease and Cerberus will be turned into literal nazi's with Trump as their leader. Oh, and I guess there's this guy called Shepard and some reaper threat.

The audience this could theoretically appeal to stopped between ME3's deeply flawed and stupid release and whatever the fuck Andromeda is.
Tali could do a full nude striptease in it and no one would watch
It doesn't matter what they do because the mass effect fanbase is 70% ME2 sloppers none of whom even pretend to like or care about ME3 anymore, and 30% ME1 purists who tried ME2 and were let down and nostalgia keeps them from remembering all the cringe back in ME1's dialogue too.
>>
>>219415112
Mass Effect is still columnar gameplay, just a wide column
>>
>>219415112
>differently
There are vague story beats where you can have Shepard behave diplomatically or rudely and they all lead to the exact same ending. If you choose to wipe out the rachnii, the reapers build functionally identical rachnii. If you choose to nominate Anderson as ambassador, he hates it and basically quits even before the last game. You can choose not to save the krogran and it has no material effect on the RGB ending scheme. All the "choices" throughout Mass Effect amount to whether you want to feel like a generic hero or a naughty little bad boy who nonetheless saves the galaxy
>>
>>219415974
yeah, naw
>>
>>219416061
but that shit is exactly why people fucking reamed the third game - they didn't like that the major decisions they made had no difference on the larger story.
>>
>>219415112
Kill off major characters throughout the series so it makes it look like Shepard’s decisions have impact on the story
UNLIKE a lot streaming series that keep characters around forever despite not having much for them to do (Ex: TheBoys)

Hopefully they go with femshep since male shepherd is super generic.

They didn't in ME2 either, it was just easier to hide with no final conclusion to the story
>>
>>219416173
Oh boy getting Virmired wasn't fun enough when playing, can't wait to watch it
>>
>>219416234
ME2 at least felt like there was an impact because of how poorly the last mission could go. The fact that anyone who dies on that mission just gets replaced with a palette-swapped clone in the third game was insulting.
>>
>>219415112

You know as well as I do that gamers have common tendencies.

They won't show any Asari pussy so why bother
>>
>>219415049
Cast her
>>
>>219415049
Fallout doesn't appeal to its fans, in fact almost the opposite, and its a big success, so maybe the execs are on to something here.
>>
>>219415049
Appealing to non gamers means making the show empty and nothing happens.

> Because nobody takes videogames seriously
Because they’re not serious media, they’re toys.
>>
>>219416913
It's a success because Hollywood is pivoting to video game adaptations since that's where the majority of consumer entertainment spending is going
>>
>>219415049
>male Shepard gets blown up in big finale of season one
>gets rebuild for season 2 but they alter him genetically to be FemShep
Now both sets of fans are happy

I would be cool with that just as long as she lesbian rapes Tali.

Still mad we're never getting the Laconia arc adapted.
>>
>>219416877
C'mon now, you know they would never cast an attractive white woman in a TV show nowadays.
>>
>>219416973
Only gay ones.
>>
>>219417080
So you're saying that Mass Effect by being a video game adaptation it will be a success by that virtue alone?
>>
>>219415112
femshep with nudity mod and a horse cock who's canonically 11 years old

If they just make a more violent and edgy star trek it could easily work
>>
>>219415112
Release different cuts of the show.
And a whole alternate femShep version.
>>
Mass Effect isn't even very "Gamery". It's basically Babylon 5.
>>
>>219417132
She would still have male Shepard’s voice
>>
>>219419542
>create a game version of an interesting existing TV show format to explore it in a different medium
> years later adapt that game back to the original medium
yeah the media industries pretty much have terminal cancer at this point
>>
>>219415049
There is no audience left for mass effect. The franchise is nothing but broken promises and plagiarism with romance options.
>>
>>219419690
Same thing with the Legend of Zelda movie. LoZ as a video game franchise is pretty much just fairy tales: the video game. What makes it interesting is that it is a video game. It's the interactivity, and the game design.
You may as well just make a Jack and the Beanstalk movie, and it'd be the same basic thing.
