I think that Sisko actually used to be one of the prophets but he reincarnated himself into the physical realm so he can play the "game". He's a prophet that wanted to experience the physical reality and play the game. The prophets even ask him if he wants to end the game and become non physical as if he once already was.

IIRC, the entities inside the wormhole arent bound by arrow of time and see the entire spacetime as whole. Im an eternalist so that concept is the least scifi thing to me. Therefore past and future arent really a thing for them. for them its perfectly normal to meet sisko in current time, and talk to some ancient bajorans in their past and tell them how they met sisko and he's their go-to guy
