Is it weird that I still a little teary eyed over stuff like picrel? Like this was soul.
>>219418870Only thing that does this is the Battle City era intro from Yu-Gi-Oh.
>>219418870>Like this was soul.>cheap nickelodeon cartoon made for kidsNo, you were 10 so it has sentimental value to you because it reminds you of a time when everything was new and exciting and you werent a jaded fat fuck on an image messageboard sadposting about how fucking shit your life has become.
>>219418870You goofy goober.Get your ass back to Weenie Hut Jr's.
>>219419030Faggot zoomie detected.
>>219418870Cartoons as a medium peked there
>>219418870Yeah, its definitely weird.
>I'M A GOOFY GOOBER YEA......this scene hit like a truck bros
>>219420959fucking hell I'm closer to 40It's just nostalgia. Zoomers are going to make videos about how 2016 was the last good year before everything went to shit if they havent all ready. It's the same with every generation. New stuff isnt made for you, it's made for a generation which you arent part of anymore. You aged out of popular culture, deal with it.
>>219422948BRONot the guy you replied to, but I have looking for that comic for years and years. Read it once when it was originally released and had no idea what it was called. Thank you!!!
>>219418870It's kino, even as a kid I knew it
>>219422948My problem with this sentiment is that I enjoy things from before my time that I didn't grow up with and still think they're better than what's coming out now
>>219418870No, anon, you're right.I get it. I definitely get it.
>>219422948everything WAS better when everyone was 12, not because one specific era was the best, but because everything is constantly getting worse all the time
>>219422948That's 1998 for me, and objectively true
I had that song on my 512mb SanDisk MP3 player, it's kino
>>219423083>My problem with this sentiment is that I enjoy things from before my time that I didn't grow up with and still think they're better than what's coming out nowThat's because you're getting dripfed all the good stuff from any period from before you were born. If you just new how much shit was released that you'll never hear because time just forgot all the mediocre shit which was the majority of the music released.
>>219418870nah there is nothing wrong with that, king.
Davis Glen Eisley the singer is still alive
>>219423227It's a bitter pill to swallow that not even life itself isnt immune to diminishing returns.
>>219418870this was the greatest moment in animated television history
Why has this never been played at a Superbowl halftime show?
>>219423298I'm sure my experienced is slanted towards the best stuff from older eras, but their best stuff is better than today's best stuff by a lot. A lot of it, I like more than what I grew up with, which also goes against the theory. Even today's TV/film industry seems to be about copying the past, and those are the most successful things coming out.
>>219418870It's entirely because the song is good despite being a send-up of those 80s training montage tracks.
>>219418870squilliam eternally btfo by based spongebob
>>219423083isn't that just survivorship bias? it's insanely hard to find *really* obscure movies, because if it's obscure enough that's because nobody cared about it enough to preserve it.
>>219419030Nah he's right. I already see zoomies saying 2017 was the best year ever.
>>219418870you're a manchild. do you own a nintendo switch as well?
>>219418870It is weird but I do it too. It's just the cartoon I associate the most with my carefree childhood days, the song is great, and it's really nice to see Squidward get a win. He's a jerk but a harmless jerk and he gets shit on a lot. Squilliam was also a much bigger jerk. It's cool to see Spongebob go so far out of his way to do something nice for someone, even getting the whole town on board. I think that's why this and Hey Arnold were my favorites as a kid. They didn't have smartass troublemaker protags or super cool, well liked protags, they were just really optimistic guys with kind hearts and I've always appreciated that.
I still get teary eyed over the Iron Giant...
>>219418870>.... The winner takes allllll....
>>219425912I feel awful for kids born over the last 20 years. Born into the decline, and it's only going to get worse from here.
>>219423227This is the real answer.
>>219418870Cringey, yes. But weird? Also yes.
>>219422948TL;DR
>>219425766>>219423298>>219424155Survivorship bias accounts for some of this feeling, but not all. Like the last anon said, even if you compare the stuff that survives to the stuff that is considered the best of the modern era shit, it usually doesn't compare. Look at something like Stranger Things that is the peak of current pop culture and compare it to older shows that were that level of successful and popularity.
>>219418870>>219422805Forced sovl
>>219418870Not at all
They apparently forgot about Squilliam
>>219419030TRVTH SVPERNOVA
>>219418870nojust makes you humanbe glad you still know how to feel things and cry
>>219418870Crying to kino, even if it isn't "sad", is completely natural and shows a healthy relationship with your media intake.
>>219418870I used to listen to this song before competing in local martial arts tournaments. I'm not ashamed of telling this to people and once I have the time get back into competing, I'll do it again.
>>219422948Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park are objectively better than modern blockbusters.
>>219422948>NO! THINGS DON'T GET WORSE! PLEASE CONTINUE TO CONSOOM!!I hate this gay faggot ass 'hot' take like nothing else, lemme tell you.
>>219422948Trvke
>>219419030>spongebob>cheapNigger.
>>219422948>Zoomers are going to make videos about how 2016 was the last good year before everything went to shitgenx in my 50sthey are correct.
>>219422948Nope. Certain things in certain generations are good, other things are bad. Spongebob is very good. If you go back and rewatch it as an adult (the early seasons anyway), you'll see how talented the writers were. There's a reason it was so big. Other shows I liked as a kid, I've rewatched and they sucked. Not Spongebob. Now kys.
