For a movie filmed before 9/11 it is absolutely steeped in that same grey post-9/11 dread that permeated for a while. That fear of otherness building up to a disaster was almost prophetic, which I suppose is sort of ironic considering the topic of the movie. Great film that doesn’t get enough love tbdesu. I don’t normally fuck with Richard Gere but he’s real good in this, nails that fish-out-of-water Twin Peaks performance.
