It was reddit AND good and you're just gonna have to cope with that /tv/
>>219427204There's nothing inherently wrong with Reddit or browsing Reddit regularly, anymore than there is anything wrong with browsing 4chan regularly.
Reddit isnt even reddit anymore, 4chans idea of reddit is like 15 years out of date. They just act like channers with a filter now. Innocence is dead

It convinced me to read the book, I love honest exploration of astrobiology. Any other movies with cool aliens like the eridian?
>>219427204Hope and happiness is cringe anon. Rocky should have died and grace sucked into the warp
>>219431337Arrival had cool aliens and learning to communicate with them as the main plot, but overall, I didn't care for the film as the ending is so monumentally stupid.
>>219431337I personally think this is the best that the friendly alien trope has ever been done. The book and movies deserve the high ratings. They made the alien race feel real. The story turning into a buddy comedy with elements of space opera was genuinely great. I imagine this is what boomers thought about E.T. back in the day.
The first half is amazing and some of the best sci-fi cinema in years. Grace meeting Rocky is one of my favorite alien contact scenes ever. Sadly it lost quite a bit of steam by the end, could definitely have been like 15 minutes shorter.
>>219427204Tell me what you thought was good or great about that movie.
>>219434493I liked how the movie actually looked like a movie and not a hideous washed out greenscreen piece of shit like so many films these days
>QUIPS>NOT A SERIOUS FILM >REDDIT >SNARK There I saved all you contrarians the effort. Fuck outta here now
>>219434493>>219434600Visuals around the green planet were fantastic Rocky and Grace had a great buddy relationship It was funny Pacing felt good despite being 20-25 minutes too long like all movies these days
I thought it was optimistic and sincere the opposite of reddit.
>>219427204It's not really the awkwardness and enthusiasm over science that pisses me off about the Reddit mentality, it's the smug incredulity when faced with alternative worldviews. If this is just a nice reddit film about how cool space is I might be interested.
>>219434772So nothing about being interesting, having a lot of scientific things, just that it's funny and that Rocky and Grace made cool and funny scenes. I thought this movie was about science, not just a funny comedy in space.
>>219434864It’s a genuinely good flick. Go see it in theaters on a discount weekday or something
>>219434921They removed most the science from the book because it would have been dry as fuck in a movie. The movie is entertaining and that’s literally all that matters
>>219434921>I thought this movie was about science, not just a funny comedy in space. The protagonist and alien go from extremely basic gesture and figurine communication to being able to fully understand eachother after just minutes of screentime. Its a feel good bromance movie with hard sci-fi window dressing
>>219431337I want Villeneuve taken off of James Bond so he can do Rendezvous with Rama
>>219427272>There's nothing inherently wrong with Reddit or browsing Reddit regularlyDon't ever say this again.
