Why did this aesthetic die?
>>
>>219430738
It doesn't work IRL. Men who wear trench coats look as if they're wearing dress/skirt hybrids
>>
>>219430738
They turned goths into trannies at some point. Goth women coming back proves that society is healing.
>>
>>219430738
I forgot Sean Bean was in Equilibrium. Dude's everywhere.

>>
The most notable trench coat wearers outside of movies were school shooters. Normies don't want to associate with those.
>>
what the fuck is that Sting
>>
>>219431054
it's the undertaker wearing sting's mask
>>
Due to the performance of many of the movies that did it. Obviously. What is the point of a question thread with such an obvious answer? Maybe we can take this thread off and just relax? How are you guys doing? Im gonna do some laundry and read a bit of Heretics of Dune.
>>
>>219430738
too many autists tried to adopt it irl and it became associated with them
>>
world became cringe and soulless, no more pvc tacticool goth kino
>>
>>219430738
The 90s and 2000s ended. That look was only really in from 1996 to about 2005-ish.
>>
it was part of the gen x zeitgeist, in general being edgy and a crude dude with attitude was in in the 90s. this got replaced by millennial techno optimism and reddit quips
>>
>>219430957
Those are ethots farming your nostalgia. I’ve yet to see a real goth in the wild (ie, ugly, dressed to the nines in hot weather)

I want to come up with a grand sociocultural theory of how it was too White or empowered people against norms etc etc but to be honest it just became a bit cringe and try hard and easy to make fun of when unattractive people with poor social skills tried to do it irl
>>
>>219430957
They really fucked over all the subcultures.
>>
>>219440459
damn Gollum is fine
>>
>>219430738
>Why did this aesthetic die?
'cuz it mostly sucked
>>
>>219430738
Because we laughed at every loser trying to pull it off IRL.
>>
>>219430738
Very few people would pull off that aesthetic.
Especially when they are teens/early twenties.

Also, it's not as practical as it would seem.
>>
>>219430738
Fucking faggot Columbine idiots. Damn shame, was my favorite aesthetic too.
>>
>>219431007
Reminder the sum total of her training in this movie was going into the forest and smashing some pots while Evanescence plays. And she's Pikachu face surprised when a master assassin impales her with her own dumb sai.
>>
>>219442587
Well this is some bizarre Mandela shit, I vividly remember her smashing clay pots in the forest, not sandbags inside her penthouse.

>Why did this aesthetic die?
american school shooters started to give this look a bad name after columbine
>>
>>219445195
Most of these came out AFTER columbine.
>>
I don't mean to be rude, but I noticed that in the example picture that none of the performers or titular characters in their costumes are in no way, shape, or form obese or overweight. That, I presume, is the majority of those who would wear said outfits in public and hence why it would fall out of fashion and favour quickly.

Columbine happened in 1999.
The stile was popular well into mid 00s

It became the trademark of way too many bullied edgelord retards. School shooters, nerdy fatasses, just the lamest people you'd ever meet. In all of those movies the style is worn by people who are generally fit, charismatic, or have some other degree of coolness to them that the black leather was just a bonus to. Anyone who wore it IRL only did it to compensate for their lack of innate coolness, so it had the opposite effect.
>>
>>219437918
Those ARE real goths now, loser. Adapt with the times or get left behind

It's attractive people wearing ridiculous shit. Once the first fatty busted started wearing it, everyone was like erm nahh

you keep confirming I'm right. yes the style began to die after columbine, yes 5 years is about right. stop arguing with me when you clearly agree
>>
Zoomers wanted to look like poor people from the 90s with the baggy shirts, high waisted pants they are also mostly all fat so it's not like they could even look cool on those looks.

The same way trench coats "died" because nazis loved to wear them.
Can you go be retarded on twitter or something?
>>
>>219440459
It was still going till like 2005 before it died out

Why do you care if a weirdo wants to wear a trench coat?
>>
>>219430738
Columbine and neckbeards made trench coats unpopular
>>
>>219434860
I read the first Dune book and wasnt impressed. The final third of the book is just long winded ramblings.
I understand Dune fans believe the first is the best so I don't think I'll read Messiah.
>>
>>219430738
It was too heterosexual.
>>
>>219430738

The time of the Emo has passed.
>>
>>219442876

Practicing against sandbags was in the Daredevil film.

Claypots in the forest must have been her own solo film.
>>

Because everything died

all the pics in your collage are fairly unrelated with each other even aesthetically wise
>>
>>219450230
We’re not allowed to have fun movies any more.
