He sucks as a director. The Westerns he made back in the day were all coping with the fact that all his fame came from the character Sergio Leone made up for him. While the later more serious movies he made are mediocre and all the ones he stars in as an old man depend on you knowing that old corpse was once the Clint Eastwood you saw in A Fistful of Dollars.

The leone trilogy are gimmicky pastiche trash and they were memes of the old westerns. They suck. Leone is probably the most overrated hack ever.
