Even in the 50's they had no problem casting a woman as the lead in action movies. Maureen O'Hara starred in several swashbuckling pirate movies with Errol Flynn and Tyrone Power.

70+ years ago, and before that there were Western movies in the 30's with girl gunslingers like Annie Oakley and Calamity Jane. They were very popular. Even before that, the REAL Annie Oakley and Calamity Jane were star attractions at the Buffalo Bill Wild West show in the 1880's.

But that doesn't fit the narrative so it all gets ignored and forgotten. Which is ironically what they accuse others of. It's too late to be first, but they can settle for worst.

He didn't, but studio thought settling outside of court was cheaper than fighting it in court. Harlan Ellison was cunt who wrote three good short stories.
