why did everyone hate it
>>
The space pirates scene
>>
I liked when Ad Astra fought space monkey. Get that monkey, Ad!
>>
Forced soul
>>
>>219462622
yeah i dont know. it was a good movie. saw it the summer of 19 right before covid ruined the world and life forever
>>
Had potential to be kino but is the very definition of studio interference.
>This is too boring...what if he fought a monkey here?
>>
>>219462622
Its boring. All it amounts to is a guy dealing with his father having an existential meltdown. That's not to say its a bad movie, its just nothing special
>>
A series of set-pieces that really had little to do with each other. There's no natural progression.
>>
>>219462806
>yeah i dont know. it was a good movie. saw it the summer of 19 right before Jews ruined the world and life forever
FTFY
>>
>>219462622
Lost in Space was ok I guess?
oh that wasn't the movie you were talking about? Who cares, clearly you don't.
>>
>>219462622
retarded pseudointellectual slop
>>
>>219462836
the interference was hit or miss
the bits with the wife were clearly added in reshoots but those strengthened the core of the movie
>>
>moon rover fight with 1960s rovers so you know its real!
>>
>>219462622
It's kinda boring but that is why I like it. Comfy space travel kino where Brad Pitt travels on edge of our solar system. Whole distant father thing hits close to as well lol.
>>
>>219462622
It was good but nothing special. Bred Pitt sucks as a main character.
>>
>>219462622
I liked it
>>
>>219462622
wet fart of an ending
>>
>>219462622
Typical boring ass movie where everyone has a thousand yard stare and ...talks....like........this in order to fool pseuds into thinking it's deep.

>autistic man goes to space
>and the sequel
>autistic man goes to space 2: this time it's retarded
>>
>>219462622
Its boring
>>
>>219468573
Never saw First Man but I naturally assumed it's one of those movies where Ryan Gosling goes through 99% of the movie not saying anything and the behind the scenes stuff of him doing all kinds of RL astronaut type stuff like underwater training in a space suit in order to make the movie feel "authentic" is a lot more interesting than the movie itself.

Was I correct in my assessment?
>>
>>219462622
I get that it's a metaphorical psychological journey coded as a real journey, but while the psychological part was good, the plot and science of the irl journey was retarded.
6/10
>>
No it is not kino, it was garbage.
>>
>le space monkeys
>le moon pirates yeeaarrggghh surrender yer space coins!!
It's all so tiresome.
>>
>>219462622
Space monkey stuff was onto something though. Like - what if the optimal astronaut really is something that is more like an ape than a man?

Boring: The Movie
>>
creddit (cringe reddit) dialogue and he's just got this real faggy attitude throughout

imagine not knowing movies and coming to /tv/

One of the best films of the 2010s i think the entire ending with his father went over people's heads

>I never cared about you, or your mother... or any of your small ideas. For 30 years... I've been breathing this air, eating this food... enduring these hardships... and I never once thought about home.
>>

Monke in space
>>
>>219462991
to be fair the have been doing that since the 50's
>>
>>219462622
Unironically better than Project Hail Reddit
>>
>>219462622
it was an anti-space exploration space film.
what's not to hate about subversive shit?
>>
>>219472284
I loved it. Entire movie is a story of conflicted son crossing endless void to save estranged father that got completely swallowed by his job, and in the end was unable to let go.
>>
>>219463568
>pseudointellectual
It wasn't. It was as direct as possible.
>>
>>219472862
>it was an anti-space exploration
As we stand there is absolutely no way for us to travel or reach across the vastness of space. It is at the same time exciting and endlessly depressing. The father figure was someone who was crushed by it, which is something completely understandable out there, alone, orbitting dead, empty gas giant.
We need better to devise better methods of observation, travel and colonisation to achieve anything.
>>
>>219470499
It's literally the actual literal definition of it insists upon itself.
>>
>>219473240
>>
I thought it was neato
People get really angry about it though
>>
Cool visuals
Decent concept
Not so cool plot
>>
when this came out i was broke and doing these cash events for a company called brainsights and they'd lead you into a room with like 20 people with headsets on and make you all watch ads, tv shows, and one time it was in a movie theatre and we watched this movie as they scanned our brain responses or something

wonder what data they got out of that
>>
>>219468867
it was an oddly somber telling of the apollo story, much in line with the general mood of ad astra and i loved it
>>
>>219462622
I don't like monologues. If the writer wants to tell me something then you need to find a way to convey it through the characters, don't just have Brad Pitt read your thoughts directly to me.
>>
>>219462622
I liked it. I think I liked it more than Project Hail Mary. I think the moon buggies were out of place though. If we've built manned craft to the outer solar system and fully functioning moon/mars bases where people will wear plain clothes, why are they driving moon buggies barely removed from a design taken out of the 60s
>>
>>219462622
geogaddi is better
>>
>>219462622
The part on Mars dragged on too long.
>>
>>219472862
>humanity doesn't magically get better in space so it's bad >:(

Yeah, you can't escape yourself. Even in space.
