When George was running Star Wars people hated him.
When Kathleen was running Star Wars people hated her.
Now Filoni is running Star Wars and people are hating him.

There's just no winning when it comes to you people and Star Wars.

Only RLM and they were paid by Disney.

I never hated George, I just didn't like some of the things he did. The majority of stuff that he did was genius, although it looks pretty ordinary now.

Maybe we should just retire Star Wars already.

At best Star Wars stopped being good 20 years ago. At worst, 40 years ago. It didn't have to be this way, but it now just needs to end

This. He took risks constantly, some of it worked and some didn't. I admire him more than anything though.

it constantly baffels me that people expect something more out of pulp fiction dime store novels.
star wars was ment to be junk food comic books and movies.
though its kind of interesting that alot of classic lit came from pulp lit magazines.
eit+er way people who wank and make pages/hours long diatribes on joyces ulysses or star wars have unhealthy obsessions

"Meant", brah.
(You're right though).

That's not because people will just "hate whoever is running Star Wars", as you're implying, retard
It's because ALL THREE of the people you listed are, and turned out to be, laughably incompetent and ill-equipped to actually use the IP for anything good.

And yet the films of the Original Trilogy WERE more than that.
They were, and still are, landmark achievements in the modern movie-making medium. The revolutionized technical aspects such as Special-Effects well simultaneously tremendously impacting the approach towards science-fiction storytelling in movies(and storytelling and movies in general to a degree). Having a science-fiction epic that was simultaneously cutting-edge technologically in how it was filmed and yet also a rebirth of the universal Monomyth (while also creating its own unique new mythology in the process) rather than some kind of trite metaphor and commentary on current events or politocs or societal issues like much science-fiction cinema chose to be at that time, wasn't at the time very novel approach and one that proved exceedingly impactful. It returned science-fiction to being something that could be a medium of telling, and creating, myths and legends rather than simply treating it as an intellectual lens to either make realistic predictions about mankind's future or to analyze contemporary issues. The world of Star Wars was instead wholly removed from and unconnected to the world we know and exist in, and the idea of making what is essentially a high fantasy setting but with science fiction elements rather than fantastical ones was extremely novel. Or at least at it was at the time, is it spawned utterly countless imitators and pretenders.
That's more than you can expect from "pulp fiction dime store novels". A LOT more. And the OT proved that the IP was fully capable of that.
Now compare that to what the Prequels & Sequels delivered: Confused, conflicted scripts, tacky & unconvincing special-effects that were considered unimpressive even at the time of the movies release, and unremarkable, uninspired world-building that was more the product of a boardroom than the product of somebody with genuine creativity and passion.

it's what happens when there were 2.5 good movies and it's been 50 years
