It's quite funny how fast the atheist fad faded out, now it's just a few vocal speakers and people who were raised in very religious environments and became atheists.

What atheism fails at, is that it's a religion as much as any other. They often think of other religions and religious texts literally, over simplify them and fail to see the nuances. Claiming that God doesn't exist is as ridiculous as claiming unironically that magical unicorn created it all. They fail to define God, most religious texts when they were written had very different idea of God. Some referred God(s) as the universe itself, some referred it to all life that exists. There's great philosophical value in religious texts, there's plenty of good and overall, I'd argue that religions have been great for mankind. Also, how universal they are, is truly an odd phenomenon. I don't think that there have been any group of people who were atheist by nature in the recorded history, excluding communistic nations. I think it says that religion is part of being a human, going against nature is not reasonable. Sure, there's been plenty of evil in the name of religions in history, but overall effect is positive in my opinion. It's not like one can argue against the core values of most religions without sounding like a psychopath.

The truth is, we cannot know the true nature of reality. One can believe what they want, but it's intellectually dishonest to claim something doesn't exist or exists when there's absolutely not enough basis to claim so.

Because it diminishes the meaning behind any message. Let's say a religion is claiming that you must do X because it is what God wants. If we say that murder is wrong because God decreed it so then proof of God's existence is needed to justify the commandment. If we say that murder is innately wrong then this is a question of morality and it can go towards many different philosophical branches. But at the end I need to know which parts of a holy book are real and which are allegory. Did Christ raise the dead. Did he walk on water, conjure matter from thin air, etc. If these aren't real and are allegories then the core tennant of the faith is broken, Christ needs to get the son of God and to have died and was resurrected. Deism doesn't require this and it's innately more logical, even though it still can't produce physical evidence, it still has an advantage over any established religion.

Christianity doesn't have to be true at all but people can still take disbelief in it too far. Like, virtually everything in it really happened, it doesn't even mean Jesus has to be Gods Son, just Biblical events tend to line up with all historical texts and anthropology. Then just dismissing we might have been created by something is just hubris. Without any actual proof (100%) of alien life its going to stay weird that we are alone in the universe and no God made us. Beyond that you don't have to believe in anything.
