Who cares about the slutty housemaid that gets knocked up by a wounded officer recovering at the Abbey? If the show had stuck to the s1 cast it would have been much better.

When Dan Stevens left after season 3, I did eventually watch seasons 4-5 once but hated what Fellowes did with Mary's character. Just keep throwing men at her? She was regent for the estate heir, a widow, and a mother ... couldn't they have found something more interesting for her to do? Fellowes can be such a hack writer, for all that Gosford Park is brilliant.

I think a lot of people must’ve felt similar because they really barely had any sort of romantic chemistry between her and the new guy (can’t even remember his name lol). Would’ve prolly pissed people off too much
