Both are pretty underwhelming compared to the book. On the bright side, both are head and shoulders above the TV series that is in name only.

holmes and watson is the only movie i have drank, smoked ant ate through and when we started the show there was 15 people in cinema and by the end we had laughed out another 10. 10/10 movie absolutely the best comedy that year. 0/10 by critics showed the absolute disregard any critic in the modern age has for comedy. stopped listening to all critics unless they are parody since.

worst gotta be House of 9, it's totally incomprehensible with piss poor acting and directing but it was a lot of fun watching it with a friend in so-bad-its-good way

I think I saw the fourth and fifth ones while staying in a hotel one time, but I couldn't tell you what happened in them because I was struggling to stay awake, they're so fucking boring.
In terms of outright bad movies I'd say Pacific Rim 2 rates up there, also saw that one in the same hotel on a different occasion.

For a movie to really piss me off it has to be 2/4 of the following: lazy, incompetent, boring, and/or condescending to its audience
>The Devil Inside
>Disaster Movie, Meet the Spartans, etc
>Human Centipede 2
>Final Destination 4
>Sausage Party
>Jack and Jill
>Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland
>The Cloverfield Paradox
>Son of the Mask
>Cocaine Bear
>Blair Witch 2
But most of the worst movies I’ve ever seen don’t piss me off since they’re at least fun to watch or were made earnestly
>The Happening
>Catwoman
>Dude Where’s My Car
>Breaking Dawn part 2
>Now You See Me 2

Rise of Skywalker is the definition of a 1/10 movie. It's funny how many people shit on The Last Jedi when it was actually entertaining with some interesting twists. Rise of Skywalker was the most bland, cookie cutter, intellectually insulting movie I've ever watched. I've almost never been put into a position where I have to sit down and watch a movie that I didn't want to, and I'm selective about what I watch. So the worst movie I've ever watched is Rebel Moon, because I could tell it was awful and would never have watched it, but someone else wanted to. It was incredibly bad. At first I thought it was a bad first episode of a bad new series, how rapidly it introduced characters, and when I realized no this is a whole movie, I was incredulous. And it just kept on like that through the whole thing. It continously just kept introducing new characters you're apparently supposed to care about but with no reason to, but with all this air as if you should, so lazy and unearned and arrogant. Nothing that was happening mattered. I say this sincerely, I went with my niece to the Mario Galaxy movie which we all did knowing it would be terrible but going for different reasons (a day out, popcorn, a good time for our niece, etc), and even this trash Illumination color-noise was a better movie than Rebel Moon. The mere idea of Bowser struggling to see his beloved son want to kill Mario and Luigi who he has since kind of reconciled with, even though nothing was done with it and it was completely wasted, gives it a microscopic ounce of intrigue and substance, which is more than anything Rebel Moon offered. I cannot believe anyone at all enjoyed it whatsoever.

>oscar winning excellent director
>arguably the best writer of all time with multiple other hit novels and movies wrote the script
>all star cast including oscar winners and popular current actors (bardem, pitt, fassbender, diaz)
...
>turns out to be unwatchable incoherent garbage that ends with the worst-delivered monologue of all time
the only memorable parts of the movie are the assassination device used on brad pitt, cameron diaz cementing herself as the worst actress of a generation, and having nightmares about Bardem saying
>COWNSALURRRRRRRR
over and over again with his stupid haircut
You can argue there are worse movies with low budgets and dumb ideas, but i couldn't believe how terrible this was vs expectation and what they had to work with. This is like if you gave a 5 star chef the finest, freshest ingredients in the world and they made uneatable garbage

The worst film I've ever seen happens to be one of the most acclaimed films of all time - All the President's Men. It's almosr always exaggerated to say "nothing happens" in a movie that one finds boring, but I'm not joking when I say literally NOTHING happens in this one. It's the most forgettably boring thing I've ever seen. It actually made me more focused and critical on entertainment onward, which...is actually good. It helped me see the bigger picture of cinema.

The movie that I HATE the most? All the Bright Places. The movie is decent but the ending sucks. The reason why I hate it because of why I saw the movie at all. The story sounded kinda trauma-dumpy, so I won't bore you.

It's pretty much that post about how Sherlock is a smart character written by idiots turned into a blockbuster
>>
>>219547771
the thing thats bullshit about those movies is that its not like magic in real life where the reason its amazing is because youre watching it happen in front of you but you dont know how the trick is performed, what sleight of hand they did, etc
with a movie like that theres nothing "amazing" about it because you know how they did it: its CGI because its a movie and they arent magicians, theyre actors
if they were to make a movie and then cast actual magicians doing actual magic tricks it could be interesting
>>
>>219527313
Holmes & Watson is great. It's Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly playing dumb Americans making a Sherlock Holmes movie. The two of them obviously aren't dumb, they're just having fun playing dumb characters and it's funny.

On another level, they're making fun of Sherlock Holmes movies because despite the volume of Holmes works, some 50 short stories and 4 novels, we only ever get the same shit: Moriarty.

I thought it was an interesting concept, but I can see why you think that; it feels Reddit-made. Some real hardcore r/atheist fedora tipping at some points, alongside the pop sci. But putting those aside, I still felt the film had charm, and the central concept was still captivating.

As soon as they use digital effects for the "magic tricks" it becomes pointless because the entire appeal of magic tricks is a skilled magician bamboozling you with clever sleight of hand and distraction. When it's just an actor waving his hand and someone in a computer animating something it's not a trick, it's just bullshit.

It'd be like having digital juggling. Or digital guitar playing. What's the point?

Emilia Perez was truly fucking terrible. I know it was heavily memed and everyone argued about its politics, and it’s now being memoryholed because everyone involved is horribly embarrassed about making it, but it deserves more recognition for how poorly made it is. Learning he not only didn't know anything about the source material, but didn't even like comic books or superhero films and just wanted to make his own faux-horror movie poorly aping Cronenberg, lost even more sympathy. I don't demand directors be die hard fans of the source material, it can help but also hinder, but when they just completely discard it and use it as just a launching pad for their own basically unrelated movie, that's retarded. And no wonder he went up against what the studio wanted and wound up getting it Frankensteined together into the moronic mishmash it wound up as. It's like 90 minutes long and they don't even get powers til an hour in or something like that.

In short his original "vision" would have been shit too, and been even further from what the Fantastic Four ought to be about. Dumb, ugly garbage.

It is nothing but a series of cameos and callbacks strung, mad-lib style, into a plot that is itself a copy of an earlier, better film. I've got a lot of patience for movies that try to do interesting things and fail to stick the landing. TFA's crime was that it never even made the attempt to be interesting. There should be 3 categories of worst movie
>Blockbuster Disaster
Poorly executed, big studio, big budget, big name movies set for big releases on big weekends.
>Mockbuster Failure
Your poorly made. Low Budget B-Movie mockup, possibly one Z-List star or former big star (Something like Empire of the Ants from 1977 starring Joan Collins and Robert Lansing)
>Amateur slop kino
Movies like the Room or Coven, the countless non-union, outside of Hollywood movies that get made with at most guy who appeared in a few soap opera arcs or was an understudy on a broadway tour.

The frustrating thing about that movie is that it does the same shit as the Star Wars sequels, where it skips the years where all the interesting shit was apparently happening, and we're just kind of seeing the aftermath.

Speaking of Shyamalan, I remember reading an article on Cracked back when they were actually still worth reading (is that site even a thing anymore?) that was talking about him, and the subject of "The Sixth Sense" came up, and the article mentions that the plot of that movie is almost beat-for-beat identical to some episode of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" on Nickelodeon. Then they look up the day that episode premiered, determine that it would have aired when he was in college, and then start giving him shit about spending his prime college years at home on a Saturday night watching Nickelodeon.

But hey, he's still plugging along making movies in spite of his missteps and detractors, so I guess he's doing ok.

Yes.

Nigger, that's the best movie of the 90s.

It's like the one times writers and directors show restraint nowadays, except it just blue balls the audience.

You just made me remember that they were trying to dodge suicide npcs at the climax. Also

I have must have seen the fellowship of the rings over a hundred times, actually learned to watch films with subtitles because of it. And The Hobbit is one of my favourite books, having read it a dozen times. I couldn't stand 20 minutes of that shitty movie.

For films I have finished watching, The Spirit. I only managed to finish it because I was in the movie theater and it was expensive for me at the time.

The first two Hobbit films are mediocre and forgettable with some very bad moments here and there, the third one is a complete disaster.

Nepobaby. I enjoyed watching him be old and embittered on Joe Rogan a couple years ago though.

It just makes me crazy because they keep alluding to a Machine civil war and an exodus of the good guy Machines to what's left of Zion or whatever, and I'm sitting there thinking "Let me watch THAT!"

Instead, it's two hours of watching someone's grandparents flirting at Starbucks, and a guy named Morpheus whose only resemblance to Morpheus is being a bald black guy with dark glasses, and Keanu giving everything the care bear stare.

The director went from Let the Right One In to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy to that. What a drop off.

I saw Five Armies in the theater, and when Thorin dies at the end, I heard a little kid in the completely silent theater say "Does that mean we can leave now?"

It was a 2 1/2-hour long video game cutscene, and even the little kids are bored.

My question is why did the entire film have a weird bloom filter over it? It was like the Lothlorien scenes in Fellowship but that was meant to be an ethereal magical place, this was just every single scene having this desaturated bloom drenching everything

This doesn’t really count because it was made shit on purpose as a protest.

I always figured maybe it was to visually communicate cold or something. I do know what you're talking about, though, and I'm not a fan. It's one of the reasons why everything is so glaringly cartoony. They almost should have done the Game of Thrones thing, and set the battle at night to conceal how shitty it all looks.
>>
>>219567128
Because the entire thing was rushed to fuck due to the studio screwing Jackson around.
I still feel like there’s magic in those movies too, but it was just arranged wrongly due to bad prep. So much of the design, the cast, the acting, the music etc. was great. Cut some subplots, add in some deleted scenes, tone down some of the more extravagant visuals and it would be an amazing trilogy.

For me, A View to a Kill was miserable, it was so god damn boring. An hour of wrinkly Moore wandering around stables. Walken couldn't save it.

The retcon of all technology being dripfed by optimus prime to humanity meaning that it was his personal decision to give the technology for the giga-mega-ultra-chink-immolator-rice-fried-er 5000 to the Americans makes the series kinda worth existing.

That and how it ends with optimus prime just straight up executing the main bad guy while he's on his knees by shooting him in the fucking head at point blank while he begs for mercy

Lmao

Every single entry of the Transformers movies has the exact same plot of "there's a vital secret Transformers artifact previously unmentioned, and it's....hidden on Earth all this time!". It's hilarious how much secret Cybertron stuff somehow wound up on Earth. To the point that they tried retconning an explanation in the FIFTH movie that Earth has actually been Unicron this whole time and that's why everything is there but no one noticed. Which itself is another "secret Transformers artifact hidden on Earth all this time!" plot.

You think they care how shitty it is? It's STAR WARS! They could film literal shit for 2 hours, slap the title: "Star Wars: tales of shit coming out of my asshole", and braindead NPCs would still happily gobble it up.

Do capeshit babbies really find this movie hard to watch? I like the scenes where they fight each other and Batman is cool.
