Is there any chance of surviving this situation?

Let's say you only carry stuff you would regularly have while on a stroll through a walkable city.

Take out my damascus nihonto.
Problem solved.
>>
wear a jumbo wide-brimmed sombrero at all times
>>
>>219534253
I would simply inform the motor that it had insufficient torque and continue walking
>>
>>219534253
It isn't possible.
>>
This film made me like Cormac McCarthy less

God it sucked
>>
>>219534629
no fucking way - is this All The Pretty Horses? cause I just had a feeling based on the picture - I've only read the book
>>
>>219534629
Cormac's prose, specifically the narration, is his strong point.
In adaptations that is entirely gone so the next thing to capture is the atmosphere.
Coen brothers understood the assignment. Ridley Scott just made a low effort Ridley Scott movie.

Can't really assess it realistically, because it's an impossible device. You can't put a powerful enough motor and power source in something that small.
>>
>>219534629
He's a talentless idiot that only retards like.
>>
>>219534847
no there's something really engaging about his stories - one of the few greats that's actually very fun to read, like Faulkner
>>
>>219534253
first you need to turn the device around so you have easy access to the motorized box, then you would use a screw driver or knife or lockpick to undo the motorized box and turn it off. cmon guys this is easy stuff.

everyone talks about this scene

and no-one talks about this scene

Is this a real life device? I never heard about anyone ever dying like that
>>
>>219536105
No, not real. It was created for the 2013 film The Counselor so that there could be something scary/unique/memorable in it
>>
I carry an improvised handheld 50 cal in each pocket and each sock at all times so I could easily just shoot the device off of my neck and then dispatch all of the criminals within around 1.38 seconds (confirmed due to using a precise top of the line, everyone says they're the best, WOW they tell me many times, range timer) quite easily.
>>
>>219534253
I mean, if I not only lived, but also was one of the important players in a world where this impossible device exists, I surely would've prepared myself with something to counter or nullify it. That's how the weapon industry works.

>Janet Faulkner fan

Listen I love books about a woman meeting a sexy horse and it becoming a man with amazing abs and a giant dong who falls in love with the woman and gets her pregnant and when she starts to worry about money he admits he's a billionaire and proposes to her as much as the next guy but come on bro.

This has become a thing has it? Oh well I'll go on giving my answer.

Get a small metal object (key, pen, belt buckle tongue might work if necessary). Insert it between neck and wire, right up close to the machine, where the machine is pulling in the wire. Twist it round to make a loop. When it gets pulled up against the machine it will jam and burn out the motor.

(The big danger is your carotid arteries getting cut before this happens. Ideally, to prevent this, slide something else between wire and neck, over the arteries, to spread the load and prevent the wire digging in so deep.)

When the motor burns out, go and find the nearest place to get the thing off. A car garage would be the obvious place.

Now you'll be wanting to exact revenge. Seek out Cameron Diaz, carry her off to your cabin in the woods, and force her to have sex with ugly cars (Fiat Multipla, Hyundai, Tesla, etc). Film it.

Why would you want to?

not familiar with Carmac's writing, but this sounds plausible.

In any situation where this thing is actually around your neck, you've already fucked up such that they could have killed you in any number of other ways. This is not unique, or even sensible.

Why would you ever use this device like this instead of just, you know, stabbing the guy? You already have the drop on him from behind and have to run away after, stick in him the kidneys a couple of times and accomplish the same job WITHOUT a scifi gadget where if you don't get it perfectly around his head in one go you just look like a fucking moron and get your ass beat to death.

The only actual use case where the auto-garrote makes sense is as an insurance policy. Its something you put around someone's neck with a remote control you have for it and say "You're going to do exactly what I tell you, or I press this button and you die."

God, haki is so *fucking shit*. All it does is suck all of the fun out of the room. Its never once done anything cool, only made it so other cool things cannot happen.

If it were Anton Chigurh, he would calmly pulled out a "screwgie" or a Leatherman with a screw head and just disassemble the device. Then he would take out his suppressed shotgun and birdshot the guy who took the suitcase and calmly walk away with his money. Cameron Dias would be found dead a weak later with bloody foot prints trailing out of her Hong Kong studio.

The Counselor was better than No Country. It's a true midwit filters which is why both critics and audience disliked it.
