It was a holocaust movie where the Jewish family is trying to escape Germany and his best friend from high school who is a nazi hides him and smuggles him and his family out of the country. Then years later after the war his best friend who was a nazi comes to him and asks him to testify that he was never in the nazi party, and the Jewish guy refuses and then rats on him and it's portrayed as a positive because he's "committed to justice" by betraying his old friend who literally saved his life.
