Was Buffy supposed to be stronger than Angel?
>>219539412Sometimes. It was possibly the most egregious case of "strong as plot requires" ever. >can bend steel with bare hands one episode>can't break a rope the next
>>219539412I think so. He’s a vampire and she’s THE Slayer meant to kill his kind. Faith was hotter
Yes, she was stronger than every regular vampire. She always kicked his and Spikes ass when she actually tried
>>219539573Slayers would have to train and they would die young while on duty. The implication is it takes skill, not just their natural stat boost
>>219539621Spike killed two slayers.
>>219539412The show states, more than once, that Buffy only survives as long as she does because she is more than just the Slayer, she has ties to the world, a life beyond her role and duty. The first slayer explains that death is the slayer´s gift, their reward and Spike confirms he felt the existence of that inexorable attraction the Slayers have for death; that the slayers he managed to kill were the ones that succumbed and accepted it. There is even an episode on which a regular nameless normal vamp managed to almost kill Buffy. In short Buffy is as strong as her will allows her to be, she can take on 10 vamps at once or be done in by any single one of them depending on how willing she is to live and she´s survived because she had a place to return to; family, friends... you know, her human side.
>>219540043>spike confirmsThe whole point of that episode is Spike was talking out of his ass.
>>219539412>he's a vampire>she kills vampiresWhat do you think
>>219539412He's not stronger than her but he could have killed her if he wanted. Angelus/Angel was ever known for being tricky and good at killing, not fighting. Finding ways to get at your enemies weaknesses could be a good fighting skill, which his light side uses, but even in his own group, he doesn't seem to be the best fighter. He often sucker punches his enemies to kill them fast. I'd argue both faith and buffy are better fighters and are literal demonspawn. The universe they all reside in has a direct correlation with power making up for being bad fighters. Angel drinks ancient bad guy, he can start going toe to toe with him. Illyria is juiced from beginning and swats everyone. etc
>>219539412>lost against buffy>lost against kendra>lost against faithAngelus was way more entertaining.
>>219541153He lost against Buffy, too, though. He did beat Faith, but she's a loser.
>>219541153He also lost to that one buff retard
>>219540095Not really. He wanted a good fuck, that much is true, but that´s precisely why he was being honest, or as honest as a soulless horny creature of the night can be, about it. He wanted to earn some points. The way i see it Spike point was that the Slayer coexists with death so much that, at some point, they all long for it. Furthermore vampires are an existence that move right on that threshold too so i believe his reasoning is that both parts only feel truly alive when they clash. I´ve always thought Spike is the one that best understands what the slayer is plus this is kind of confirmed by the whole death is your gift thing the first slayer spoke off and how Buffy felt right before sacrificing for Dawn (and for a good while after coming back to life). She later overcomes it but that´s a Buffy only thing, not a slayer thing.
