There is no clearer symptom of our ongoing cultural decline than the conversation around Peep Show shifting from "Mark is so relatable, I have thoughts like this all the time!" (how everyone reacted in the 2000s) to "Mark is a monster and a probably an unironic sociopath" (the default opinion these days)
>>
where the fuck do you encounter such opinions?

He's a caricature, as is Jeremy. Yes, there are moments of "he's literally me", but there are also moments of "he's a neurotic danger to society", depending on which is funnier in the given situation. This is basic comedy shit and I refuse to believe zoomers are this retarded.

>I refuse to believe zoomers are this retarded.
they're not, and those who are tend to go more viral due to rage engagement

"cultural decline" sounds like it's important but I couldn't give less of a shit about it. culture is a pastime and fluff, it's not an important thing.
people who work in it, and morons, like to over-exaggerate its importance.

I no longer engage with other 'people' about the things i enjoy. Most people are simply sheep who parrot opinions they saw online. I don't associate with such creatures.

it's always been a bit of both but they turned more towards the latter in the later seasons

Peep show's pretty good man

wait... is yoko a man?

>smiles at you
what the FUCK was her problem???

Mark is a character who is likely to actually act out secret thoughts people have like "I should chase those disrespectful yoofs down the street with a stick". They said as much at some point.

Its a psyop to create more incels, now everyone hates the weird guy who talks too much about stalingrad instead of just finding him quirky
>>
>>219577646
Mark is terrible person and most of the bad shit that happens to him is his own fault. I'm not sure how you could watch Peep Show and come to any other conclusion
>>
I recently rewatched it and Season 8 ending was basically like gif related. Season 9 wasn't that bad though
>>
>>219577646
The later seasons did have him degenerate a fair bit though where he comes off worse than Jez (even though Jez actually fits the sociopath label better; he's not even actively malicious, he's just borderline unthinking and impulsive with no obvious long-term regard for his actions, but he ends up coming off slightly more moral than later Mark)
>>
>Mark starts as pathetic and becomes more sociopathic
>Jez starts as sociopathic and becomes more pathetic
Yeah, that's the point.

Mark was always a chud. He's relatably awkward but he's constantly thinking about how he will be perceived and it ends up hurting him and everyone around him. The Christmas episode sums it up nicely. All Mark had to do was stand up to his Dad and Dobby would have stayed. If he stood to his conviction more often, people would probably like him. Instead, he chooses to worm his way through life, regardless of how it may effect others.

Why was Sophie so offended by Mark suggesting they name their son Bruce? I never got that. Can any brits help me out?

They were always a bunch of freaks. If they were normal and relatable it would be a boring show.
>>
>>219581017
He isn't but any zoomzoom who relates to him in 2026 is
>>
>>219581017
No he isn't. He gets stoned with and banged a goth girl half his age. You wish you could do that.
>>

>Why was Sophie so offended by Mark suggesting they name their son Bruce?
Because it was alluding to the ridiculousness of her "Tarquin Oliver Nimrod" name idea
Women don't like to be laughed at, no matter how preposterous they are

>"Mark is so relatable, I have thoughts like this all the time!"
The guy kicked a dog to death in episode 5
>>
>>219581082
I've never met a Bruce in my life, it would be a very odd name
It sounds very Australian
