I'm one of the few people who enjoyed watching Scott Pilgrim home. But if I had wanted to see it at the cinema, I can't think of anyone I could take with me. Random people are interested in Top Gun and are willing to drive to the movie theater to see it. They aren't interested in seeing Scott Pilgrim chase a girl for 2 hours. The movie studio also vastly overestimated how big the Scott Pilgrim fan base was.
