What did you make of this film?I like Lynch but was really late on watching this one.It actually feels like torturous in length and oddly gripping. I don’t think there are that many movies that can feel as unsettling as this.

I watched it three times in 2 days upon first watch as my fifth Lynch film. I wouldn't call it very unsettling, many films clear it including Velvet for me, but it is eery, puzzling and seemingly gives you all you need to know to get it, with the prostitute, the old woman's story, the mini plays, the Drive-y/Synecdoche-y play-in-play and so on.My take is that it's a bit like Vertigo, a cursed ending is fated as you see throughout the films.The traumatised woman is reliving a nightmare where a politer version, the making of the cursed film, is her escapist fantasy, but she is hounded nonetheless as the intrusive thoughts keep hounding her, symbolically or otherwise.

watched it but it didn't leave any mark on me, nor do I recall pretty much anything about it (other than how fucking long it was) or felt compelled to do any follow-up research on it it just exists and I doubt I'll try watching it again

>>219585607Honestly it's my favorite David Lynch movie. I've seen in twice in theaters (I preferred the older, lower-res version, but the new version doesn't completely ruin it) and it really drew me in both times. For as kaleidoscopic and disjointed as it is, it follows a specific thread where every scene progresses from the one before it, so it really kept me "in it" the whole way through. Terrifying, dark, weeeird, but also very watchable and inviting, in a strange way. At least for me.
