>>219589315we're different people.but if you're always catering to the least educated person in the room you're just encouraging the populace at large to become less educated, which is precisely what's been happening over the past 50 years or so. you're not being attacked because someone used a word you didn't know. look it up.
>>219589726>but if you're always catering to the least educated person in the roomIt's a one on one conversation, so you should be catering to the individual you are conversing with. When it's not a one on one conversation, you should be catering to the crowd as a whole. Using needlessly complicated language and failing to get your meaning across is a personal failing. If I use a word in a conversation and then get the feeling that a participant did not understand the word, I'll pause to explain the word. One should not expect any random individual to know everything you know. You have to gauge their mastery of the language as you go an adjust to it.
>>219590405>It's a one on one conversationit's a movie>so you should be catering to the individual you are conversing withneo never said he didn't understand what the architect was saying>but what about the people watching the movieyou're assuming a level of education for the audience. the movie can't check in with the audience and ask if they didn't understand something. which takes us back to the post you're replying to.
>>219590752>you're assuming a level of education for the audience. And, in the case of The Architects dialog, you are assuming much to high a level of education for a general audience. Or, in my opinion, you are banking on most people not understanding his dialog. >neo never said he didn't understand what the architect was sayingDo you think he understood it though? It's not just on the person that doesn't understand in a conversation. You should be able to tell if someone doesn't understand you even without them saying so.If you can't explain something in simple terms, you do not understand it well enough yourself.
>>219586889>>219588632Is another>americans don't understand their own language beyong "yoo", "nigga" and "bro". Maybe "dude" for intellectuals.

The other day I was watching Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles and a character said ergo. I understood what he was saying.
>>219590862>you are assuming much to(sic) high a level of education for a general audience. Or, in my opinion, you are banking on most people not understanding his dialog(sic). The Architect is an arrogant character and he speaks accordingly. I'm not even going to get into what the correct level of education of a general audience should be. I've made my point on that and no one has even attempted to refute it.>Do you think (Neo) understood it though?Well he certainly acts like he did.>If you can't explain something in simple terms, you do not understand it well enough yourself. The Architect wasn't teaching a middle school science class.
>>219593236even if you've never heard the word before you can figure out what it means from context clues.personally I know it from that star trek episode where moriarty says "cogito ergo sum: I think therefore I am".

>>219589726>catering to the least educated person in the roomThe trannie sisters already did that by changing the original plot. Humans in the matrix were supposed to be used for their compute power, but they changed the story so the humans are used for their "energy" because they thought the audience wouldn't get it otherwise.

What if instead The Architect purposely mispronounces common phrases like "escape goat" and "for all intensive purposes" just to be the most annoying mf around>"it's a doggy dog world Neo"
>>219591020Not an argument.
