I don't understand this character at all. It feels (at least in the film) that he got throw in as a counterpart to Paul but only because other character say so, not because of anythind he does or any quality displayed.It is unclear what makes him the Baron's favorite or why he's suited to run Arakis. There's no mention of his previous military acolades and his skills as tactician are shown in a scene where he just orders the bombing of the Fremen's hideout (it is unclear why the Harkonnes didn't just do that before). The Bene-Gessarit say he is special, but again, nothing is shown. In the scene where he offers himself to be the Emperor's champion there is no previous indication of him being any better than the Saudukkar in combat, so again, he just fares well in the duel for the sake of being an antagonist but the as far as we known he only ever fought against drugged out prisoners besides that one guy so there's no reason to not expect Paul to win.The Harkonnen's as a whole feel like a terribly written anatagonist faction because they are just traight up worse than the Atreides and the Fremen in every possible aspect but somehow they have a rivalry of hundreds of years.

I like the films but how the fuck are normies supposed to know what's happening if they haven't read the wiki.
I don't think the books can be adapted into movies very well. An animated tv show with a lot a episodes might work.
