I'm not a SW person and don't care much personally about its content, but I've read some criticism of the sequels and Disney shows and it's kind of incredible but fasicnating how they fucked so many things up, big things, small ones, legacy characters, continuity errors, weird dialogue and character moments, simply repeating things, obvious made by committee choices etc. Nothing quite like this has happened before, as it was a super popular franchise sold for billions.

Dive into the making of the first Star Wars movie. Practically everybody except the dude who signed the cheque did not understand or get what any of it was about from the very beginning, from the crews in England, to the cast, to the suits back at Fox who were facing bankruptcy if they didn't get a hit on their hands and were banking on Smokey and the Bandit that summer. Nobody fucking "got" it. George had to drag a bunch of lazy bum hippies effects crews in America and snooty tightass British crews in England and the desert off their asses to get them to get what he was trying to get across into a coherent vision and it nearly killed him. Nobody believed in him from the start. He had to call his old teacher back to do the second one and he had to pick up the slack of the TV director of the third one in the end. He did all the prequels himself as a result. Other people and storytellers can do great things with Star Wars, but unless you understand its core fundamentals, you'll only get cookie cutter mimicry.You now have it in the hands of people who are outright hostile to the fanbase, corporate suits that do not promote or sell spirituality which is a driving force of the series, executives who do not have the vision to depict it as something of a work of art as opposed to it being a toy and money machine, and multiple inner cliques and factions tearing it apart by using it as a platform for insane political and ideological agendas.
