The only other idea that comes to mind in plot would be after Hal and Lois raise 4 boys, they are so locked in and have expectations of how a child is that they didn't know how to raise anything other than a boy, or she just envirs her brothers?
I'm not justifying this as a plot line, don't like it much and she doesn't add anything to the story. I would have got a lot more from the story if they just let us see how the unique daughter actually fit into the family dynamic.

But really, we didn't even need another character shoehorned in for the sake of it. We never even get to find out who Jaimie became other than a muscly irresponsible jar head.

People have been calling him a man child and woman, but I thought it was a good portrayal of showing what a sensitive man can be like. Something that I've seen happen to dads as they get into their 60s onwards when they can soften. Hal was always sensitive already so it makes sense for this to escalate.
The joke is he's the one who expresses the feelings that Lois can't and why they complete each other.

Really liked seeing him confront and integrate his shadow.
The overdone psychobabble between Malcolm and Leah (and even Reese which seems above his intelligence level) annoyed people from what I pick up here, sure I understand how that is grating. I found Hal's psychedelic therapy session was actually a pretty accurate representation and well written however. Even if the psychology could have been entirely cut out of the show for the sake of staying more true to the original.
