Why didn't they just lock him up in a mental hospital?
>>219682043Mulder was part of the Smoking Man's plan to make Mulder believe (and then subsequently want to believe) ayys were real.
>>219682043Don’t try to think seriously about anything to do with the mytharc. Obviously they would’ve just glassed Mulder and made it look like an accident the second he got close to any real truth, his continued existence after S2 is a plothole
>>219682233Mulder's purpose was to make every layer of the Syndicate and later the Smoking Man's lies seem like the truth even if they contradict each other.
>>219682043The syndicate need him. He's always on the cusp of the truth, but having him work on the X-Files and having him see things no one else sees makes him look like a loony to everyone else at the FBI. He's a distraction so the syndicate can do what they want under the noses of the authorities.
>>219682043They did in one of the best motw episodes.
>>219682487Meant to post this but oh well, same episode.
>>219682405>>219682313It's weird now that I think about it that syndicate sounds like synagogue
>>219682614fuck off back to /pol/
>Mulder, I'm re-closening the epstein files.
>>219682813>>219682642
>>219682614They seem pretty similar too. I bet the synagogue of satan has similar "meetings"
>that time he released an imprisoned serial killer without clearance, lost him, and had his badge stolen by him which led to the kidnap of a child Almost every other episode of The X-Files should end in Mulder fired and arrested.
>>219683165>mulder is kenny
>>219682540Oh yeah, Folie a Deux. I forgot about that. Whenever I watch that episode, I always think he's too smart to behave like that. He's a psychologist, he should know how these places operate. Like, you don't call the nurse in and go>Nurse, close the window! There's a giant monster trying to get me!You say>Nurse, I'm cold! I'll sue your hospital if you don't close the window.Problem solved. Or was she a zombie? I forget. I don't think she was, but she becomes one later.
I can't wait to see the reboot. So excited. Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel? It's like they were born just to play these roles.
>>219682043reagan closed all the looney bins before this show was made
>>219682233the myth arc has many classic episodes I'm tired of this idea that they're low quality
He could just go >the charges doctor? and they'd have to let him out and then as he was leaving he'd turn round and have a little look at the doctor... big 'ead, webbed 'ands... turns out, little alien fella.
Wasn't he being protected by Cancer Man? Also why would the syndicate need him? They wanted to get rid of him on various occasions.
>>219683275I think she was already bitten and that's why she left the window open in the first place.
>>219683840Rewatched recently. The early ones are genuinely fucking great. It's after the movie where they start falling apart.
>>219684091The syndicate was never unanimous about killing Mulder.
>>219682043He was useful. What better way to know your operations are secure than let an agent try to uncover them. He'll show you the holes in your security. What better way to dissuade anyone from following in his footsteps than by constantly making him look insane
>>219682043torturing someone that knows the truth and can't do anything about is extremely satisfying
>>219684367this episode wasn't that bad
>>219682642shalom
>>219684133This is correct. One should stop watching at the movie. That way it ends on a high note.
>>219682043He is controlled opposition.
>>219682043>Lock up your paranoid special agent>Someone else takes the job>Becomes a paranoid special agent you have to lock up in a mental hospital>Someone notices loads of people who worked the same desk at the FBI, handling calls from the US stock of weirdos who see Bigfoot every week, all turn out the same way and now Congress wants to know whyAlternative, which is tried in the show->Lock up your paranoid special agent>Close the X-Files>FBI has to send real agents rather than special agents to check reports that Bat-boy has escaped the lab because a subscriber hasn't seen him in the latest issue of World Net Daily>Real FBI agents find out that Bat-boy was real all along and now MiB have to flashy-thingy all of them
They specifically wanted a loony, obsessive paranoic in that position so that nobody would take him seriously.
>>219682043Why would they? He solves a bunch of whacky crimes and disappearances everyone else dismisses as nonsense. Its like asking why that hospital doesnt fire dr house for being a liability, when hes had basically a 100% success rate for cases every other doctor on the planet deems unworkable
>>219683840Last time I rewatched, I was primed to think the mytharc eps would be disappointing, but they were good for the most part. The main thrust of the mytharc isn't planned and written brilliantly and it shows in later episodes, but overall it's fine, and of course sheer genius compared to TV these days.
>>219684857>One should stop watching at the movie.or just watch the well-liked episodes after the movie.
>>219683840This. It's contrarian bullshit from a generation that wasn't around to watch it on broadcast TV.
>>219684367I watched this episode on a black and white tv in a thunderstorm so the picture kept getting filled with static snowit was the most kino viewing experience of my life
>>219690027Some of it's definitely contrarianism but I think a lot of it is the later episodes badly souring opinions of the mytharc as a whole. Especially the reboot ones. Those were terrible.
>>219690610well obviously it gets really bad after the movie, nobody ever suggested otherwise, it's well known.it's really good until it falls apart, but the first ~5 seasons or so are great storytelling
>>219683165This is my problem with the Vince Gilligan episodes. Good ideas for a one off episode that made no attempt to exist in continuity with the rest of the plot.
>>219682043In his time between chasing cryptids, he was very good at solving crime.
