>>219701017why?
>>219701017This is one of those movies I will never know anons true opinion of>It's popular>It's sci fiSo naturally people on this hell site are compelled to claim it's the worst thing ever made, regardless of whether it's actually true or not.The only genuine comment I think I've seen was an anon picking apart how the movie "butchered" the novel, so I at least have that information.
When genuine torrent?
>>219703597It's a genuine, hopeful movie. Gen Z are programmed to despise genuineness in all its forms. Everything to them needs to be either ironic or depressing because they can't understand a world without those qualities.
>>219701017it was beautiful
>>219703666It didn't butcher the novel, it's the same story, same themes and overall tone, but it left a lot of the science out, and did away with the amnesia plot very quickly
>>219703666Book butchering is definitely something people can have a problem with, but after hearing that ther's a 3-4hour full cut of the movie means to me that there was an actually attempt to put the whole book to film, but it was cut for it to be theatrically disjetable.Personally, i enjoyed very much, it felt very ernest with the emotions it was conveying and it didn't belittle the audience in felling them, you could critisize it for doing the "do you care" test but the movie did a fantastic job so it did make me care very much so.I'm glad I went into the movie relatively blind, so if you end up seeing it i hope you do to.Taste is subjective so i can't say whether you'll like Project Hail Mary, but I do hope that you enjoy it.
Every single line in this movie is a quip.
>>219703666>See a few reviews on youtube disliking PHM>Oh okay, I'm more interested in these since it won't be blind praise>IT'S THE WORST THING EVER MADE!!!>Huh? I bet it's overrated, but THAT bad?>3/10 - NO! 1/10! This is terrible and you should not see it!>Well this is the exact opposite of blind praise and is just mindless contrarianism>Am now very confused, since most negative reviews are this>Then find out Andy Weir had an interview with The Critical Drinker>Also Reddit is losing its mind about this>Most of these negative reviews are actually weird review bomb attemptsI did wonder why these extremely negative reviews were mostly by trans and bearded guys with glassesI still want to see some actual negative reviews that aren't 4chan contrarianism or Reddit sperging because the author spoke to an unperson though. Surely the film has some shortcomings.
>>219703666It's genuinely good. It absolutely does overdo the wholesome reddit chungus act but it's still a really good movie.
Too much bumbling around in this movie
https://vocaroo.com/1lwpA2sJwMOAthe best cathartic moment of the book was made in to 3 seconds few frames in a montage
>weird jungle music throughout the movie>goose just throwing shit around constantly
>>219704518That's a fantastic scence, I really hope they did film it it in all the unused footage made so I have hope for a extended cut of it.
>>219704518The audiobook is the best way to experience the story. Ray Porter is a fucking great narrator.
>>219701017I didn't watch any trailer and didn't know about the book. I assumed this was a serious space movie until the Disney pet came in. Was surprised. My little sister loved it. I thought it was alright.
>>219701017tearjerker slop
Movie was like one part The Arrival and Interstellar. One thing that sucked was the comic relief - there was too much. Had to make a joke outta everything.
>>219703675there are russian and hindi webrips out already, i literally watched it yesterday, had to use ai to translate rockys russian subtitles at the end.
>>219705663I have no idea why they turned this into a comedy. The book certainly isn't, outside of a few misunderstandings between Grace and Rocky.
>>219703675Project Hail Mary 2026 1080p WEB AC3 H264-DJT
>>219705715The Martian had the right amount of seriousness and comedy. You can do SOME comic relief but don’t do too much of it. Parts of it reminded me of baby Yoda goofiness. Like why?? Are zoomers that brainrot they can’t have a serious moment?
Reasons this movie SUX and is NOT reddit:1) the students are never shown again or talked about and the black star student wasn't the scientist in the end working on the fix2) Rocky didn't die3) she was NOT allowed to do that karoke, she doesn't do it in the book and that makes me ANGRY
>>219705904That karaoke bit is the best part of the movie honestly.
>>219705933I had to look up the song afterI over did it though and now Im sick of it xD
Since you are here, have a votehttps://strawpoll.com/XOgOVq3Dan3
Rocky casually coming back to life like it's nbd after all that drama is a bit lame. Gooseman should've scienced the shit out of it or something. Injected him with some xenon or whatever
>>219706270In the novel Rocky is healing but Grace has no idea since he's a fucking alienSo he builds a special air machine that blows all the soot out of Rocky's "lungs" to help him. Then it turns out the "soot" is actually some form of healing material and Grace almost killed him.
>>219701017>believe in the Hail Mary It’s funny we’ve got to the point in society where obvious religious phrases are now completely devoid of any religious meaning.
>>219706838What do you want, for Andy Weir to rename it "Project Long Shot"? He mentioned in an interview it's named that after an American Football term.
>>219706923>american football term As I said, religious phrases have become completely devoid of their original meaning
>>219706973Language and civilization evolves.
what if it were project heil hitler instead? Would you like it then?
>>219707006Food evolves into shit
>>219707077Project Allahu Akhbar
>>219707278No? I get you're trying to make some form of point here, but that's not the correct use of "evolves".
>>219707410Language evolves
>>219707410Yes, but your "example" is a one of a kind non-sequitur. I get the feeling you knew that though, so I think I'll stop engaging you at this point. Something tells me you're the "last word" type.
>>219707573Something tells me you're a redditor
>>219701017I'm so proud of L&M. They finally made a movie that doesn't feel like it's off its adhd meds.Maybe being live action helped.
>>219705663Levity is good. It relieves tension and the fear of death.
>>219704268thisSolid movie and I'd say it's good, but it's definitely overhyped by people that never watch movies (normalfags/80% of this board)
I loved it, people here are turned off because of how wholesome the alien is but it makes sense since their species are extremely reliant on each other since they basically go into a coma when they sleep so it makes sense for them to form bonds Also they are not more advanced than humans so the whole incredibly advanced species turns into an emotionally dead logic machine doesnt apply
>>219708655There are not a lot of good movies of the genre Interstellar for example is atrocious and while Arrival is good its not in space
>>219707815Only when it's appropriately applied.
>>219703597unfunny jokes low quality dialogclimate change fear mongeringinterracial couplesimplied cuckoldryin a word: reddit
>>219709673reddit hates the movietherefore, you are reddit
>>219709673some of the jokes were funny but some were cringe hard to have high quality with an ayyits about global freezing not warming and it never said it was humanity's fault the sun was dying the ir couple was too on the nose but it was also literally 1 shot with characters that never appeared againdo you mean the same couple when you say cuckoldry? because goose was aiming for the boss. the ex wife was only mentionedits a fun movie and goose delivers a great performance
>>219708683Yeah I don't get it, feeling alone and miserable when your entire crew died and bonding with the only person that's there and happens to be a peaceful, friendly alien is entirely understandable and there's no reason an alien wouldn't feel like that as much as a human would.
The alien rock spider man is just a regular guy! And he says things in a funny way and rolls around in a ball haha, lets open the borders and let them all in
>>219710063At no point did he express interest in going anywhere near earthIn fact goose fucked off to live like a monkey in a zoo on their planet

>>219710063everything would be improved if you unironically replaced most humans with rock aliens, sadly they can't live in our atmosphere also I would fuck off and go live with them too, I'm sure if they have a /tv/ board it's not soulless /pol/ garbage and you could actually talk about movies with them and appreciate soulful kino
>>219707077Project Nirvana Goku , Super Saiyan Legends.
>>219710213ok readdit.pls review mario galaxy and the zelda movie leaks.
>>219710123You're too autistic to see sub-contexts
Since you all asked>objective pointsGoose did well, the movie is too long, the movie is visually very nice>MY pointsI thought it would be like sunshine and then it really was a marvel movie instead. If I went in thinking its a wholesome family movie then I wouldnt have had an issue. But it felt like all the cool sci-fi bits were just waved away so you could have the next quip. The alien is also super lame because its essentially just another human in its psychology and language and all. Arrival was fun because the aliens were indeed alien af. You could make phm with an American Astronaut meeting a Russian Astronaut next to the planet figuring out why it isnt dying and nothing would change about the essence of the plot whatsoever. The only point of the alien being an alien is that Grace does the gay extra ending nobody needed at 2 hours in. I hated the movie but probably because I didnt expect it to be that shallow.
>>219710302>movie is literally about the invasive blacks stealing out resources (the sunlight)Anon, stop huffing catshit, it's affecting your brain.
>>219708704>the genrewhich genre exactly? I've seen it described as a buddy flick and that sounds more appropriate than a space or a predicament movie>does epix crab dance amaze amaze amaze!
part of a series of movies funded by deepstate to ingratiate ourselves to robotics *aka aliens
>>219710438goose really did do well didn't he. I was worried after barbie but he's still got it
>>219711606Yeah he actually is good at being funny but also serious sometimes
>>219711218No mate.. this guy said it best >>219710438 "You could make phm with an American Astronaut meeting a Russian Astronaut..and nothing would change about the essence of the plot whatsoever"It could as well be about "a western guy and a muslim guy get over their language and cultural differences and learn to work together!" and they all live happily ever after
>>219703666>the movie "butchered" the novelthat's the norm and anyone expecting otherwise is very naive
>>219711643They could have chosen literally any color. Any color! And yet they chose black. This movie would have been treasured in the Hitler regime. If you don't understand this, you are media-illiterate. That's how insane you sound. It's pretty funny.
No staying power or relevance since nothing in this movie is challenging. The pace of the movie and the way things unfold simply lacks any kind of tension. Shit just happens and works out. If there's a snag it just works out in the next scene after some quips and gags. The future of two planets is on the line and there's no sense of tension whatsoever. There's also no room for the movie/story to breathe. It's basically one quip every three seconds. The alien as soon as it shows up turns into an asian sidekick and then more quipping. Also I'm not sure how much of it was adapted from the book but this is the first time I found Gosling annoying. It's like he stayed in character from some unrelated comedy movie, he keeps throwing and smashing shit everywhere he goes basically acting like Will Ferrell would in this kind of movie. In fact if you swap Gosling with Will Ferrell and the rock guy with John C. Reilly essentially nothing would change.
>Ryan Gosling trips over every single doorway and his pants fall down and he rolls his eyes and says "OHHH NOO I LANDED ON URANUS" and winks at the camera before doing some HECKIN science on a whiteboard that makes no goddamn sense whatsoever while a CGI rock does the Macarena and the audience howls with laughterI fucking loathed this movie.
>>219714195Stil missing the subcontext even when spelled out to you. It could have been a chinese guy instead of an alien, or a russian, or whatever. Its "two people who don't understand each other and fear each other learn to overcome their differences and save the world and are bestest friends ever"
