are you team Achilles or team Hector?
>>
>>219703735
Hector is a cool bro, with a troublesome brother that he loved unconditionally. Achilles is a cheat code, that is mad about a dead boyfriend

>Get up, Prince of Troy. I won't let a stone take my glory.
as a kid, seeing the good-hearted hero get mercilessly killed for doing his job in a shitshow that he was dragged into was heartbreaking.
>>
Team Hitler.
>>
>>219703822
>Achilles is a cheat code
Even with great power he never really truly abused it for power unlike Agamemnon and he still had a sense of responsibility for the good which was virtuous of him.
>>
>>219703735
hector
the trojan wars were so plagued by divine interference on the greeks' side it's hard to root for them because it is literal gods doing all the work
>>
>>219704101
He was a good sport and let Hector re arm , catch his breath and whatnot
>>
>>219704280
Not just that but in a whole holistic view of his character. He could have easily become a king if he wanted to or become a pirate lord that raided the seas with his abilities, except he decided to lower himself into being just a normal person unless it was absolutely necessary for him to exercise in demi-god status.
>>
>>219704341
his* demi-god status
>>
>Oh boy can't wait for fags to come in here on the /tv/-board with a picture from the MOVIE in the OP and begin yammering about LE ILLIAD MUH BOOKS
>>
>>219703735
Hector was a loving family man standing up for his foolish little brother.
Achilles was a honorable warrior filled with grief.
Both were cool and their fight was tragic and caused by higher, more selfish powers.
That said Achilles dragging Hector's corpse around Troy's walls was needlessly cruel and something that Hector would have never done, although at least he eventually he regretted it and gave the corpse back to the father
>>
>>219703735
Team Achilles
The new oddessey movie's gonna suck so much on a related note.
>>
>>219703735
Movie only? Hector, by far. He was a real bro, did nothing wrong. Achilles was an arrogant fuckboy and kinda gay.
>>
They should have bit the bullet and made Achilles and Patroclus gay in the movie.
>But the original text never explicitly states they were lovers
Most Greeks at the time were knuckle-draggers and even they could still understand the subtext. But even if you want to die on that hill then thematically the story benefits more from reinforcing the theme of romantic tragedy. Romantic love dooms them all.
>>
>>219704407
fuck off faggot
>>
Hector died like an absolute chad, literally fighting a demi god. Achilles died like a bitch, killed by a borderline lady boy.
>>
>>219704478
>>
>>219703735
team hector.
achilles is an invading nagger
>>
>>219704280
Believe it or not, but upper class warriors used to have principles and wanted to win by right instead of by dishonorable opportunism. Achilles does what is right, knowing that going to war dictates he chose a short life with enduring fame.
>>
>>219704407
>But even if you want to die on that hill
just because it gay sex was common in their culture it doesn't mean that any two close male friends necessarily had to be lovers too, so assuming that Achilles and Patroclus were definitely intended to be gay lovers despite it never being explicitly stated is just as wrong as assuming the opposite is.
>>
>>219703735
Hector had a shitty brother and was an all around noble person stuck in a bad circumstance. Achilles was a mommy's boy who dressed as a girl half his life and was gay for his cousin.
>>
>>219704757
>"everything is gay until proven otherwise!"
faggot logic
>>
>>219704371
/lit/ owns this board, nigga. nah fuck that shit, /lit/ owns this anime website!
>>
>>219704407
No, that would be gay revisionism, their actual relationship is unclear and blurred, it would be more appropriate to show something like that. Gays have been trying to use Ancient Greek culture as an excuse to stuff things up their arses for too long now.
>>
>>219706563
Both Plato and Alexander the Great believed that they were gay lovers. Sounds like you're just homophobic desu senpai.
>>
Hector lost the moral high ground when he killed Menelaus
>>
>>219706622
It would be disingenuous to actually portray them as lovers, just as it would to depict Achilles raping Briseis, but they could both be hinted at.

>Sounds like you're just homophobic
Any right thinking individual is. Gays have, for the last 2 centuries, been trying to use the very specific, and not totally understood, Ancient Greek context of higer class male relationships to justify their lust for boys and anal sex. But the reason for this fixation on Ancient Greek attitudes in particular is it that it is poorly understood, so it provides plenty of latitude for perverted individuals in interpretation for their chosen degeneracy. Everything about it is repellent.

irrc he was the deciding factor in the stalemate of the war. He could've ended it sooner but got pissy about his gf he met yesterday and sat in his tent while thousands died.
>>219704280
yeah don't read what he does to Hector in the book.
>>
>>219703735
Hector in the movie is the only person who isn't an asshole or a retard
>>
>>219703735
I’m team whoever the fuck gets me a good quality Blu-ray of the theatrical cut. The only non-DVD version of Troy literally only has the fucking Director’s Cut on the disc and it absolutely whiffs.
>>
>>219703735
Achilles knew he is a demigod with only a little weakness that none of his opponents know. Hector was human, knew he didn't stance a chance against Achilles and he still faced him. Hector was the real brave one.
>>
>>219707194
In the movie Achilles is just a normal guy aside from being a really good fighter
>>
>>219707151
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Troy-Blu-ray/152149/
there's this, not sure if you can find it at a decent price tho
>>
>>219707151
the only bad thing about the directors cut is that they changed the music for the hector vs achilles fight
>>
>>219707240
He moves too fast to be a normal man.
