The best thing I’ve ever seen involving San Francisco is the shot from that exact angle of the city being nuked in Terminator Genisys.

I guess there’s also the end of Godzilla ‘14 where it gets smashed by giant monsters, but the downside of that one is that there’s still San Franciscans alive and happy by the end of that.

Reading about it in gaming magazines like PSM back in the day, the place sounded fucking awesome, with places like the Sony Metreon still open, but that’s obviously been destroyed by Democrats, and I’ve heard that San Diego (where I did live for five years around 20 years ago and loved) is basically Little Mexico now, and the Gaslamp is a shithole again.

If you lived in SF during the 1980s and 1990s, it was pretty awesome. Especially if you were into technology and gaming. Gas was cheap, and arcades were everywhere - even in small shops like 7-Eleven and random corner stores. Namco also had their flagship arcade in San Francisco in Fisherman's Wharf on Pier 39. They put their biggest machines there like Pic related. It was a wondrous time.

>Metreon
It was so awesome back in the day. Huge arcades, IMAX theaters, Playstation store, Sony electronics stores, a bowling alley that featured a futuristic bowling-style game, where players rolled a giant air supported ball like a bowling trackball to steer through 3D cgi worlds. Nothing like that existed in the 90s. The theater was huge too. Like 20 massive screens.

Sony hosted launch events for the Ps2 and PSP at the Metreon. Fans lined up overnight. Many camped out for days. The space held concerts, screenings, and game tournaments. The whole place felt alive and wonderful during its peak.

Unfortunately it's all Gone now. San Francisco is mostly homeless people now and a lot of companies left. It's still a wonderful location but wtf it's so expensive now. The average shitty house on the street is like 2 million dollars. Crazy. Who can survive?

I miss old San Francisco.

True, the only visually interesting one I'm aware of is Chongqing with all the elevation differences. But to be honest the only striking things about LA/SF are the (incredible) landscape they find themselves in and a few art deco buildings here and there, the rest is just generic ameriblock suburbs or skyscrapers...

It’s kind of a meme for its shitty leftist politics, a lot of which is exaggerated. It’s not a hellhole. But it has unquestionably been mismanaged. It experienced a net outflow of American-born population under Newsome. The thing is though is no matter who is governing California, it’s without a doubt the best land in the country. The weather, the coastline, Lake Tahoe, the mountains, San Francisco. Nothing compares to the land itself.

The social engineering has been honed to a fine science and the surveillance state in meatspace and online is locked in firmly. All you accomplish is making yourself and everyone who has to endure you more miserable than they already are.

I've lived in the SF Bay Area my entire life and that guy's plan is so retarded it makes me wonder just how retarded other plans are in the Bond series if they involve any sort of geography. Livermore, specifically the part where he's activating the fault, is like 40 miles from San Francisco as the crow flies. The tunnel that Walken would have had to drill was 30 miles through solid rock, and under a bunch of cities that already have early earthquake detectors set up everywhere and would have quickly detected someone doing shit like that. Not to mention - why would the geological surveys for a completely separate city be held in San Francisco, which isn't even the state capital?

It's because it's getting increasingly shittier for the average Californian since like 2001, and it's really accelerated the last 10 years or so. It's still got some of the best nature on earth though, even if a lot of the best parks are overcrowded. It's basically a microcosm for America as a whole. The valley is a lot like the Midwest/plains, and the rightest wing, most openly racist people in America hide out in rural and mountain towns.
The superrich have always loved to be here but even they're packing up and leaving so i guess the decline has caught up with them. And California wants to stupidly tax them on unrealized gains as well (because it's drowning in debt) so they're fucking off.
