A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence
How Green Was My Valley.
Once upon a time in Hollywood. A critique on the death of traditional masculinity and femininity in the West.

>>219744624It's two boomers having boomer takes from a boomer age. The dialoge is relentless, there's no pause, one guy just yapping on and on about his hippie commune in some german woods, then about his midlife crisis and some vague notions about society collapsing and everyone should just live in the woods. I dont really remember, I checked out around the hour mark. Material aside, it's not even a well made film. There's no good use or even effective use of photography, it's just shot reverse shot for 2 hours. No interesting use of the set, the characters just sit at the same table, never moving. There's not conflict, no resolution, no disagreement. Just one guy having mouth diarreah and the other just nodding along. The actors are barely even acting, just delivering their own self absorbed musings about life and society since they wrote the play the movie is based on.I can imagine that this film was something out of the ordinary in 1981, but today, it's like watching jordan peterson having a conversation with himself.Which is frustrating because they never utilise anything in the movie as part of the story telling, they never interact with their enviroment, there's no visual allegories or useof set or lighting to build the story or conversation. Just two dudes yapping. It's just lazy. You can watch it on youtube and try to time yourself how long you can stand the grating voice of André delivering neverending anecdotes before you want to skip forward.
>>219745991I torrented this a while ago, maybe I'll watch it soon
>>219746012You're doing the thing they criticize in the movie btw

What do you mean by intelligent? Like art house, philosophical or just well made
>>219744624It's great. Not something that's super profound or amazing in its art, but well worth a watch if you're into comfy intellectual conversation.

Is My Dinner with Andre even that deep of a movie? Everyone's had a dinner where they realize society is sleepwalking into oblivion but the one telling them to "wake up" so to speak is usually a schizo with no viable alternative.
>>219750847>Everyone's had a dinner where they realize society is sleepwalking into oblivionbruh are u serious? most people are braindead drones with no ability for introspection
>>219750847I gotta agree with >>219750937My dorm mate in college said he didn't even like movies and only cared about Hockey, Coachella and snowboarding. He now works as a finance analyst. Plenty of people like that out there
>>219750979So he didn't waste his time on fake stories and instead lived life and found a successful high paying career? Yeah sounds like a real loser
>>219751542I didn't use the word loser at all i was just reinforcing that a lot of people have no real interest in introspection
>>219745991A Scanner Darkly is the superior Linklater rotoscoped film. Alex Jones happens to be in both.
