There’s no way the galaxy went from a Star Trek republic to evil prison slave labor in like ten years
>>219760038Why not, nazi germany did it faster
>>219760038You know, to me, a Hothan snowbeast geared up to pull a fuel depot heist - a guy dressed in a shag rug about to do some breaking bad shit - says something like 'the cartoonish Star Wars universe might not be a good fit for terse political intrigue.' Like why does my mind have to stow Han Solo shooting his blaster at a minok chewing on the power cables right next to Bix beating a space nazi with a hammer to save herself from being raped?
>>219760172>- says something like 'the cartoonish Star Wars universe might not be a good fit for terse political intrigue.Liike prequels?>Like why does my mind have to stow Han Solo shooting his blaster at a minok chewing on the power cables right next to Bix beating a space nazi with a hammer to save herself from being raped?Well it's your mind ask him.Han shooting minoks and snowbeast pulling up tubes or cables for to load as much fuel as they could ends up in simmiliar category, it's routine, which heroes/characters had to perform to survive in-universe.
>>219760252I might just feel that way. Star wars tends to lose the plot outside of the original trilogy. I mean yeah, they blow up the death stars and Alderan killing millions and billions of people in an instant but the context of the absurdity of the universe softens the blow. You take that absurdity away and it's like a Martin Scorsese crime drama with everyone wearing paper party hats and deely bobbers.
>>219760079Germany is very smol
>>219760038The Republic was already rotten before the Clone Wars. Palpatine was brilliant, but he merely kicked the door in.
>>219760038That's because Palpatines' plan is way longer than ten years. By disrupting trade routes and funding insurgencies in the shadows he convinced the republic to fund an equally massive military buildup at his command When the Jedi were destroyed there was nothing to stop the Sith lords from spreading their militarized evil across the galaxy. I think Palpatines' next move after the death stars had pacified every planet would have been to put bled kyber crystals in every household and shop in the galaxy. The crystals would have been interconnected in a network and used the dark side of the force to manipulate their minds, control their actions and feed Palpatines' unquenchable thirst for power. They could have called it "television."Yes, that is the plot of Batman Forever.
>>219760038>looks at the absolute state of america nowAnon...
>>219760341>Star wars tends to lose the plot outside of the original trilogy. That's completely on people who are making Star Wars outside of original trilogy. Andor doesn't lose the plot.
>>219760038There's a big problem in the Star Wars timeline. The Empire presents like it has been around for hundreds of years with the Jedi falling into legend. But it has hardly been any time at all. It doesn't make any sense because George Lucas has always been a hack writer.
>>219760252>>219760172Bixs' rape attempt is out of place because about the only place in all of Star Wars where you're going to find any sexiness is in Jabas' palace and all you really find are Halloween costumes and whatever happened that C-3PO couldn't bear to watch.
>>219760469Ironically, I agree. Andor doesn't lose the plot, in fact, its pointedly and awkwardly attached to it. Like, put Yoda in a scene on Gorman during the planning of the uprising."Too inexperienced are you for insurgency. Your friends too eager and knowing too much they are. Tortured and forced to talk they would be. What snitches do you have? In the back of the head you must shoot them."
>a Star Trek republicThe empire in the prequels seemed borderline dystopian already, there was crime, poverty, and corruption absolutely everywhere
>>219760561>Like, put Yoda in a scene on GormanCalm down Dave
>>219760481that's because the empire functions on propaganda. Not many people outside of powerful dignitaries and generals would have been likely to have met a Jedi. That was a part of their downfall, as they had become too concerned with galactic power and too unconcerned with the smaller, everyday problems being faced throughout the galaxy - Like slavery! Anyway, after the destruction of the Jedi order Palpatine puts out propaganda that the Jedi were an ancient and all but forgotten people who had nothing to do with the functions of the republic, so he was effectively washing away their influence and history.
>>219760598>prequels>The empire
>>219760038>a Star Trek republicRepublic was already a mess in Phantom Menace.
>>219760659The republic then you annoying faggot. I'm gonna fucking kiss you you keep acting up like this
>>219760038We went from Obama to Trump in less than that.
>There’s no way the galaxy went from a Star Trek republic to evil prison slave labor in like ten yearsWhat the fuck are you talking about? In Andor they talk several times about how the Republic wasn't really that significantly better than the Empire. I mean, holy fuck, that's literally what the plot of first episode is about. It's a republic ship that crashes and genocides indigenous people on their home planet. How can you be so utterly media illiterate?
I don't know if this shit was intentional, but if it was, holy shit they nailed it.
>>219760750
>>219760717boy, you better shut that mouth of yours up or I'm gonna have to suck that dick
One thing bothers me, and it deals with the budget and time of the first Star Wars. The Galactic Senate is one of if not the most important institutions in the galaxy, as well as the setting for some of the most important scenes and lines in all of Star Wars. It's where Jar-Jar surrenders the autonomy of the Galactic fleet to Palpatine. It's where Palpatine says "I love democracy" and where Padme says "So this is how democracy dies. With thunderous applause." It's where Palpatine has his final lightsaber battle with Yoda. It's a gorgeous series of hovering pods arraigned in a hypnotic spiraling flower pattern, that expands into an oppressive binary checkering pattern at higher levels, as pleasing to the senses as it is authoritarian and oppressive in it's domineering systemic and gray aesthetic. One of the most pivotal moments in this pivotal location is never seen. It's a single line "The emperor has dissolved the council permanently." Like WHAT!? How did that go down?
>>219760760>>219760750Oh, COME ON!
>>219760760>>219761951I don't watch Japanimation, what is this?
>>219762767It's Revolutionary Girl Utena. A very horny, very surreal and very adolescent magical sword girl anime that is also very, very gay and is deeply committed to presenting relationships where the brothers fucking their sisters. If you've seen Steven Universe, and I hope you haven't the show gets frequently referenced.
>>219760038power is a state of mind.
>>219760079Germany wasn't that great before the Nazi's either. Ever heard of World War 1? Not a fun time.
>>219762767That, son, is actual kino.
>>219763747Weimar Germany sucked because of jews, that's why nazis rose to power. An action followed by an equal and opposite reaction.
>>219763747Well, maybe if the treaty of Versailles wasn't so shit Germany might have geared up for round two. Then again, they had to foot the bill because the United States was collecting on the loans made to the allies to fund the wars. So Germany was in a rob Peter to pay Paul situation. In any event Germany had their shit together in the late Weimar republic. Would have been great to refinance the deal and lower the pressure to prevent the war from kicking off again. I have a longer rant about this. Best leave it alone here.
>>219760172>Han Solo shooting his blaster at a minok chewing on the power cablesI'm so glad I only watched Andor and not the OG goofy star wars shit. I might not be able to reconcile those two.
>>219763792Looks like a run of the mill nip cartoon to me lad
>>219763747Western civilization was doomed when the Spartacist Uprising was crushed.
>>219760038The Republic was really not utopian like Star Trek, at all. The Clone Wars happened because there were enough systems fed up with the Republic's shit to form a Separatist movement to match them head on.
>>219761751>One of the most pivotal momentsNot really. We see how useless they are in Andor season 2, and that's close to when Palpatine just closes it down shortly before IV. Time gap between II and III is 3 years, and gap between III and IV is 19 years; you can assume they've just been gradually be eroded is usefulness and aren't more than figureheads on your own.
>>219763832>>219763855If you're going to double post anyway why not rant away in stereo?
>>219763747Well, same goes for the republic you can see the cracks begin to show in the prequels
Andor the only good Star Wars along with KOTOR and Darth Plagueis novel
