The animation is actually great, film is worth watching for that alone in spite of the occasional flyingbison.JPG on a slider.Plot was ass and turbo contrived - like just bang Katara and make Airbender babies Aang, WTF he's such a bitch for no reason here.Villain was kino and should have gotten his own show instead of this.Composer Jewman was brought back from the original series but he always sucked and his work is forgettable here too - I highly recommend just getting 'The Mountain' by Gorillaz stuck in your head before watching this film.Voice acting, even with everyone replaced, is mostly fine and I doubt many fans would even notice given the time gap.OG series fan service is sprinkled throughout the film and ranges from fun and tasteful to hamfisted and tonally jarring.The spirit realm scene with Taika Waititi fucking sucked - I did not like that at all.TLDR it's a mid movie with great animation and would make for great AMV content in the old YouTube era, but the script is contrived and they roll dice with tone throughout.
They should just retcon Korra out of existence. Fuck the carpets, fuck Wan, fuck destroying the previous avatar connections. The movie was basically most of Korra rolled into 90 minutes and it was infinitely better.

>>219764360Actually I think the animation is inferior to the cartoon. In contrast to the cartoon, it has a lot of high value scenes squeezed into one feature, this makes it more impressive. I see people saying it is like renaissance Disney, but that isn't accurate. It is more like one of those modern anime movies like Your Name. It's nice to watch but it has that manufactured aesthetic, like all the characters having identical muscle bodies and chad jaws.
