>ruins writing for generations
Everyone has to be a snarky, sarcastic, faggot now and it's all his fault.
When you hear Marvel dialogue this is what they're talking about.

Actually if you REALLY need to know where the whole "cocky hero" shit came from it was Han Solo
>>
>>219766920
I think it was Joss Whedon's fault
>>
>>219766920
Action movies never had one-liners before the MCU
>>
>>219766920
If you want to blame anyone, blame the elders. Suffering builds characters trope always was control abuse and now the new geraration does not want to admit they were beate by their parents for no reason and now that the boomers in diapers, you can't beat them. YOu can only talk
>>
>>219767039
It's one thing for Connery or Schwarzanegger to say something ironic before a bad guy dies. Its another to be an unfeeling smart-ass who can't let a moment go by without saying something wry, self depricating, or tone deaf.
>>219767023
This anon gets it. Iron Man was fine in the first movie. Avengers pushed it over the edge and there was no going back. You'll never see the Iron Man that has to deal with crippling alcoholism. Just sardonic RDJ playing the same character he has since Sherlock Holmes.
>>
>>219767015
Bond predates Han Solo and I'm sure others predate Bond.
>>
>>219766920
But that's not how Iron Man was written. That came later.
>>
>>219767023
It absolutely was. Tony’s supposed to be a glib, quick-witted charmer. The problem is Whedonization, where every single character is equally glib and irreverent.
>>
>>219767214
What you mean like Zorro? You can't compare Zorro, Bond, and Han Solo to Iron Man.
>>
>>219766920

>>
>>219766920
You didn't watch the movie. This one fucking scene there is zero quips
>>
>>219766920
iron man isnt like that though. it doesnt really start until after guardians and avengers 1 that they just make every movie the same formulaic cut and paste slop. probably fired all the goyim involved and horded the shekels for themselves cutting corners.
>>
Marvel Humour is three things
-state the obvious
So that just happened
-act very insecure
Uhh did I say that out loud?
-talking to the danger as if it were a pet
(Saying you don't want something to happen right before it happens)
Hey! You better not shoot that gun!
*shoots*
*annoyed face*
>>
>>219766920
Wrong movie, this didn't happen until Guardians of the Galaxy.
>>
>>219767214
>snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?
Guys it's funny because Indy is afraid of snakes and he is now hanging over the one thing he is afraid of! What a hoot AND a holler

>>219766920
Nah, that was just Tony's character. He actually is a snarky but intelligent asshole. Otherwise the early Marvel movies were way more "serious" in tone than the later ones. The whole "marvel quip writing" actually came with James Gunn and Guardians of the Galaxy. Gunn is unable to write proper characters so he makes them all into quirky and self-ironic assholes with no depth whatsoever, regardless of their actual comic book backstory. Then this type of writing spred into other movies and series like a wildfire because it's so easy to direct, write and act and people eat it up.
>>
>>219768009
>>219768202
this, Guardians of the Galaxy was the movie that made them believe that quips could sell anything. Nobody that wasn't a huge Marvel fan knew who they were before the movie came out. They attributed too much of the movie's success to its humor, and it was all downhill from there
>>
>>219766920
The constant quips and self-ironic writing came with GotG, not Ironman.

Enough. You're all thinking to linear. It wasn't a problem just restricted to Marvel movies. After Iron Man you also had Sherlock Holmes, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, The Losers. If you look its there. Its not JUST a problem that started with GoTG
>>
>>219768371
First GotG still holds up though. It has a story and character arcs and emotional beats with those quips. You can tell they had army of people reworking script and gunn on a tight leash. Everything after is so much fucking worse like how ragnarok is almost watchable but the success of it and letting wutani dingdongi tahiti go wild for the followup exasperated the worst aspects of the movie and "humor".
>>
>>219768487
buffy was not that fucking popular. whedon had no success whatsoever prior to marvel movies. his shitty cw tier tv show didnt change how people write. most people dont even know what buffy is and have never watched it.
>>
There isn’t a single quip or one liner in the scene OP posted btw.
>>
>>219768549
You have to be 18 or older to post on this website
>>
>>219768549
this is bait right?
sometimes it's hard to tell...
>>
>>219768591
these are avg ratings in viewers by millions. walking dead averaged about 15 million at its peak. game of thrones averaged about 9-10 million in season 1 and peaked at 46 million AVERAGE.

buffy was on tv. not paid subscription services or shit like FX. easily accessible for people, yet not watched. it was not culturally relevant beyond some nerds and girls watching for angel guy. people knew it existed, but it was not by any means popular or something people discussed publicly without being called a fag.
>>
>>219768549
You have no idea what your'e talking about. Buffy was huge. You are so lucky the captcha is broken because I wanted to be the first to explain just how wrong you are but after trying to post for five minutes I no longer care
>>
>>219768684
>huge
>not watched by people
>no cultural significance
>not remembered by anyone other than oh ya that existed like alf or golden girls or some shit

you are retarded. smallville averaged the same viewership as buffy for reference.
>>
i thought the problem was guardians of the galaxy
granted i was only 14 when it came out so i might not be remembering right but weren't all the mcu movies doing their own thing and then guardians was a hit so they just went all in on the dumb jokes for retards in every movie since?
>>
>>219768803
Yes.
>>
>>219768683
Why not post the full thing redditbro
Regardless, for one thing Buffy was a teen show for teens, rather than TWD which had a broader appeal for adults. For another, yeah, it was on WB, which was on broadcast television, but most people were watching cable. You could MAYBE watch WB on cable if your provider carried the local WB affiliate, but that was scattershot. The most successful, most highly watch TV show on WB Television of all time was 7th Heaven, it ran for 11 years and maxed out at 10 million. Dawson's Creek did 7-8.

This movie has the LEAST marvel dialogue of all
>>
zoomers really think cinema begins and ends with capeshit.

what’s with this thread trying to rewrite history and blame james gunn for something that really wasn’t in his marvel movies and hasn’t been in his non-marvel movies?

That is literally exactly what action movies have always been. Schwarzenegger says he wants a divorce after fucking killing his wife lol

so why did they let whedon do marvel movies if "buffy was not that popular" and he "had no success whatsoever"?
his early life checks out

bahahahahahahahahaha go get mommy to make you some tendies son

Millenials ruined everything

>vegan cults/meat alternatives
>BBC porn
>capeshit
>political "jokes" in everything
>rampant feminism to the point of female dominated society
>tranny faggotry(majority of troons online are Millennials)
>pro-Jewish/Israeli
>massive consumers, thanks to them Iphone kicked off
>majority of Millenials were vaxxie cattle
>MUH HECKIN SCIENCERINO
>numale/s*yboy was literally invented during their time and they look the part
>my wife's boyfriend
>majority is obese, bald and ugly because they never heard of self improvement
You can go on. It was an overall weakest and shittiest generation since WWI. Responsible for the state of modern society and world.
>>
>>219767308
Yeah, it's a glib fascimile
>>
>>219768342
The writing in this show is interesting at least in the dialoge. They used that weird grammar that made it feel more like latin. Pretty cool.
>>
>>219770308
But none of these films were written by millenials you gaped retard
>>
>>219770308
>filtered by BBC and girlcock
>>
>>219766920
Blade did it and it was cool and didn't ruin anything. OP is a retarded faggot.

>>219768549
you're an even bigger retard than OP, and i don't even like Buffy, but its influence is huge and obvious you pleb fuck.
>>
>>219766920
Tony only says three words in this whole scene. In fact, this is still considered the best Iron man scene.
Iron man 1 was a good balance of his character but Avengers with Whedon came and it got ruined.
