This is literally the best movie I've seen in the past 10 years at least, probably 20. I thought it would be some reddit slop from the comments here, but it's a proper emotionally charged sci-fi like the classic sci-fi movies that promotes decent values and it's also technically very good.Opinions? Is it just NASA propaganda? I cried my ass off during like 65% of it and I don't even like Gosling.
I don’t feel like watching it. Sorry. Space is boring now.
>>219771376>Thinks this shit is the best thing in 20 yearsAverage /tv/ poster, everyone.
>>219771419They could've put them on a submarine and it would be the same movie.
>>219771419Your comment bored me. Stop posting
>>219771376It's just another "White man, sacrifice yourself so the billions of useless Indians and Africans don't have to starve" propaganda shitpiece.
>>219771376Jesus. You need to watch more movies if that's true.
>>219771760Feel free to name some then. I watched pretty much everything good in the past 100 years.
>>219771710This
Is this a reddit movie or not? I HATE reddit type movies.
>>219772384Protagonist is annoying popculture nerd. Whole builds towards overtly long tearjerker ending, with very reddit final scene.
It was the most space movie to ever space movie, offered not a single thing new or unseen in literally every other space movie. The ONLY thing it didn't have was an obnoxious AI companion and that's only because it had a rock companion instead that serves the same purpose.Very boring, very cringe reddit humor, but more than that, very uninspired and uninteresting.4/10 movie
>>219771710It’s the burden of superiority. I just wish we were able to say it out loud like in the 1800s
project hail mary is a very special movie
>>219771376It's a Marvel movie written for children under the age of 10
>>219774711you're thinking of that other movie
>>219771710If you're saying this unironically about this movie then anything other than birth of nation or mirror inglorious basters can't please you.
/tv/ lost

>>219775218That's higher than 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Been in theaters 4 weeks and my local cinema was still more than half full for tonight’s 730pm showing. It’s a very good movie. /tv/ chuds lose yet again
i skipped all the bits on earth, if you cut together just the space bits you have a tight 80 min masterpiece. goose is excellent.
>>219771376Is there racemixing?
>>219771376The movie was made by the Illuminati. Space ain’t really dammit.
>>219774298>because it had a rock companion instead that serves the same purpose.Rocky was a true bro though. Wish I had a friend like him.
>>219775123The scientist bitch is literally Ursula von der Whatever.
>>219778015she's not german but i see what you mean, It's still a woman commanding the world therefore bad for chud anon
>>219777766I agree there was way too much Earth stuff, most of which was invented for the movie.Btw, in the book, Goose sacrifices himself for Rocky intentionally when he decides to follow him instead of returning to Earth - he knows that he will have no food and he will die. Then in the book they discover that he can eat the Tau amoebas so he eats the slop until they figure out something on Rocky's home planet (which is IIRC just more slop). Also the conditions he's in at the end are much more positive in the movie, which I think it a good change (in the book the biosphere is quite bleak and just enables him to survive, but in the movie he has this entire new life that he enjoys as much as he possibly could considering the circumstances).
>>219778052You mean bad for the world unless you like being cattle.
>>219771376turned it off within 5 minutes
>>219771376the mission/space parts were great but the flashbacks felt out of place to me. It's like the author wanted to write him as a coward for no reason but then needed him to still complete the mission. The film doesn't really make it clear if he's actually remembering stuff or if it's just telling the audience, hell he never even has any reaction to the memories. They should have at least given him a daughter or some other reason to avoid going to space other than "waaah I'm a selfish bitch"
>>219778619In the book he's not really a coward at all, and the exposition is handled through the ship AI giving him access to various systems only when he proves that he has regained a portion of his memories (it's kind of video game logic).
>>219778619>the flashbacks felt out of place to meThe flashbacks only exists to have a woman telling him what to do. The book is clearly written with the hopes of having it turned into a movie.
>>219778052von der leyen commands nothing and is an aristocrat who does nothing but bad for the eu she is also a christian democrat
>>219778870ok?
>>219778884there are plenty of decent woman leaders and you choose to do that for the singular worst since thatcher and before takaichi
i enjoyed the movie and cried as wellthe ending was rushed but overall a well made movie
>>219778619you missed the point
>>219779415I haven't known where this conversation is going in many many posts
You seen red planet
>>219778699with as long as the movie was you'd think they could have fit that part in, at least a little
It's moralization slop, still slop but at least not completely degenerate like most modern movies.Way too long.Part of my brain is worried it might be social engineering or predictive programming though. The part where she says a quarter or half of the world population will die from starvation seemed to be talking about our current future. And the scene where they forcibly put him on the spaceship felt like manufacturing future consent for conscription.
>>219780865>Part of my brain is worried it might be social engineering or predictive programming though.I'm sure it is, they have to kill off as many White people as they can.
>>219771376I liked the part of the movie that was in space. I found that the earth parts of the movie became tiresome. did we really need a scene of a barely-relevant plot-device placeholder-character singing a full harry styles song? was that really THAT important to the plot of a fucking three hour science fiction movie? I also thought the last 20-30 minutes of the movie (I'm estimating) were quite boring and the ending was rather anticlimactic and sort of a cop-out. I really wanted to love it. I haven't been properly blown away by a new film in almost 20 years. but this just wasn't it. I did really like all of the sci fi stuff and I thought gosling delivered a very good performance. but this should have been a home run and instead it was just okay.
>>219778719>The flashbacks only exists to have a woman telling him what to do.you're not wrong
>>219781413>did we really need a scene of a barely-relevant plot-device placeholder-character singing a full harry styles song? That also wasn't in the book. And I don't see how anyone can watch the movie and not hate the woman, so I really don't know where they were going with that.
It felt like an 80s movie but updated. The main character might be a reddit chungus but that only made it wholesome 100. It's the most sincere and unpretentious space opera I've seen.
>The digitally produced movie was transferred to film stock and then re-digitized in order to achieve the "warmth" of analog filmkino
>>219781488>I really don't know where they were going with that.I think this anon is right >>219778719and they were just trying to elevate the most prominent female characteralso checked
>>219781496>sincere This is what the 2010s Lucasfilm people took the bet that starwars didn't need and they lost billions.
>>219781504Oh that's why it didn't look like shit like literally everything nowadays, nice.
>>219781496>It felt like an 80s movie but updated.Supposedly the alien in the book isn't just a "cute pet" and there's a lot more conflict, but I haven't read it. I thought that the movie would maybe benefit from more "Enemy Mine" vibes at the start.
>>219778619There's a point of making him a coward in the film. You've missed that point.
>>219777778fucking this. you can tell evrything you need to know about a movie from this simple questionalso the jews robbed you of that get
