How bad is Letterboxd? I need /tv/‘s opinion of this god awful website
>>219777584trannyboxd has banned me like 3 times lolost 300+ tracked moviesI just use SIMKL now
>>219777584Most letterboxd reviews are either unfunny jokes or heavily politicized walls of text
>>219777584It is a decent discovery tool, and a nice means to journal your thoughts. It is fun to look back on. Just ignore the shitty social media portions of the site.
>>219777584I got banned for "mysoginy" and "slurs"
>>219777584it's great to log your watched films and discover new films that match your tasteregarding the userbase and obnoxious reviews: I just avoid them, although I have found users that write insightful reviews or share my taste so it's all right for me
>>219777866Did you direct those slurs and misogyny at other users? That stupid website doesn't allow you to make private reviews, and I definitely have some reviews of mine that could be considered misogynistic, but I haven't been banned (yet). But I just log movies and write some stuff about them; I never interacted with anyone on there, so maybe I am safe?
>>219777584Depends on if you have friends or not. It's fun to see what they're watching and what they think. Guessing you might not get much out of it.
>>219778066I think its because I called Gosling a fag(which he is) and every review including whether or not there was nudity and complaining about bra on sex scenesThey at least sent a document with all my reviews after the ban
As a way to find movies it is one of the better options very clean ui for that stuffIf you are using it to find reviews do not bother the top comments and most other are either jokes, one sentences or a wall of text describing what the reviewer ate that morning of watching the film. This is just a personal gripe but I hate how they add tv specials to an actors filmography so even if you do watch all their film you won't be at 100 because they did a shitty guest spot on a conan obrian segment
>>219777584Same thing with RYM, useful for logging and discovering stuff, userbase consists entirely of painfully unfunny twitter leftists
>>219777584Good for lists and stuff
There's too many women and "women". I've tried to block most of them but they keep popping up. Only reason to use it is to follow friends. How to make letterboxd good:>ban all women>reviews have to be 100 words minimum>to gain rights to write reviews you have to pass a strenuous test testing your knowledge and understanding of film
>>219777614trying too hard
>Letterboxd has to be an elitist snobby safe place hugbox for me specifically!
>>219777584imdb for redditors and bluesky trannies.imdb would still be king if they didn't purge their forums. Those were a goldmine of insiders and actual crew barging to whine about people critiquing something they worked on.
It's good if you find it interesting to read what other people make of movies you've seen or just want to track your own. Always sort most recent reviews rather than most popular, nthe most popular ones are for the most part just shitty unfunny one liners. I like the site a lot, I can spend hours reading reviews there.
>>219780651imdb did that 20 years ago and would have way more funny reviews.Redditbox is literally just imdb with a different interface so it can cater to an even moe gay audience.
>>219777614Trannykiller,kill some trannies tonight
>>219777584Kinda like how bluesky was made because twitter wasn't censoring the wrong opinions, letterboxd was made because IMDB was cracking down on review bombing and blatant false information in written reviews. Take for example The Last Samurai (2003). On letterboxd, The Last Samurai has been placed in so many """white savior" lists, with hundreds of reviews stating "this movie is heckin RACIST because a white chud is made to be the last samurai!!"If you've seen the movie, you know how fucking retarded that shit is.
>>219778066>reviews of mine that could be considered misogynistic, but I haven't been bannedIt's only a matter of time before you catch the eye of some retarded "minority" mod on that site.
>>219781036I didn't know that. t. Never use either.
>>219777838After IMDB was redesigned to be unusable, LTBXD at least puts a poster to a title that you can catch stuff at one glance. A lot of obscure shit all on 1 page.
>>219781036That's not at all why BlueSky became popular.
>>219781641How did bluesky become popular?
>>219781665Elon Musk bought Twitter and turned it into a soapbox for astroturfing his personal political agenda and people wanted a site closer to what it was before.
>>219781665Because Musk implemented tons of enshittification to Twitter that ruined it for most people.
Redbar only watched 3 films
>>219781665It's not about muh censorship it's about the fact that Xitter is nothing but bots.
