Most of what I resonate with averages a release date of around 7 years after I was born. I think it's just hard for me to enjoy anything made by people my age or younger, there's not enough for suspension of disbelief there because I am too aware how badly they are insisting upon themselves. That and it roughly coincides with the death of mid budget productions which I always have considered the sweet spot

It slowly happened to me with music. It's so easy to built a home collection of tunes you know you like and just sit in that bubble. To the point you don't know any new artists at all. I rem some you tube video of a pre concert interview with some opening act nobody. I'm thinking it's nice this crowd is supporting this nobody Kenny Chesney dude. Only to find out oh wait that guy is the huge stadium headliner and has sold 30m records etc.The last time it happened was Bad Bunny a year before the super bowl. I also had never heard or knew who Kendrick Lamar was at all until the Drake beef. But I can't name 3 songs from either one being I don't listen to much rap or hip hop.
