I gave up half way through the second season. The first one wasn't great but I ccouuld stick through it enough just to see what they did with the setting. The second one killed all interest when they made the legion have two faction fighting five feet apart. The show had too much levity. That whole MacGuffin plotline felt so goddamn limp and low stakes because they were dancing around what it actually is until the last episode where they build it up like it's some kind of doomsday device. I literally had no reason to care about it even when they turned it on, I was mostly just surprised that the light bulbs and electrical infrastructure of LA apparently lasted centuries.

Its worse than that, they did nothing with it in the first season. It was basically like yeah who ever has it has free unlimited power. Then they imply strongly BoS now runs california with it and it was a happy ending.

But the second season actually shows the BoS is going to just carry it around with them and do nothing with it (make power cores to bribe other BoS chapters and power their new base at 51)
But they expand on it with the idea that House has been seeking it the entire time to complete his plans, which to me seems to indicate House put the bounty on Wilzig and brought the Ghoul back ala the courier and initiated the whole plot in s1.
So it has an actual point and im fairly satisfied with how that turned out.

Can we not pretend that Fallout games ever had great plots?

I've played New Vegas, Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 all through out, I've played some Fallout 1 and 2, they all had quite terrible main stories, ridiculously terrible even. However, the world building was great and overall they had much depth, well maybe Fallout 4 lacked in that on some level, but overall.

The show, it's terrible. The main story line isn't that bad of an idea. However, jumping between different story lines is an issue, especially since there are only one character which is interesting. The main character has literally had zero character development in two season, zero. I get it, they try to play the meme that she's a vault dweller and has different values, but it would've been more interesting to actually see the wasteland change her. She's still the same quirky little gal who left the vault, after two seasons.

Then there's the humor, it just doesn't land. The show has zero grimness at all, it feels more like Borderlands than Fallout when it comes to atmosphere. Fallout games were humorous, but the humor was dark and subtle. The show tries to do the grimness with gore and with visuals, but that's just a dull choice. The jokes are practically Marvel-tier, targeted at the mass Reddit audiences: no originality, no depth nor subtlety.

The first season was better overall, it granted some hope for the show, but the second season was terrible.
