A thread for the appreciation of the greatest sci-fi show AND greatest comedy of all time
>>219782078RIP Rob Grant, I thought suing Doug Naylor after that 2020 special came out was a bitch move though just because he wanted to get back in the game, I don’t know why those two couldn’t get their shit together and work on it again
>>219782152>RIP Rob GrantThe show really went to ship after series 6 when he left
>>219782078Based, bump.
>>219782736I liked series 10 without him, but 11 and 12 were pretty retarded. 8 is funny but terrible Red Dwarf
>>219782152
>>219782810I don't think I ever watched past season 7 or 8, whichever one it was that has alternate universe Kochanski join the crew and ends with them getting the ship back.
>>219782911Series 7 is when they added alternative universe Kochanski. Series 8 is set aboard Red Dwarf with its resurrected crew.
>>219782078IT'S COLD OUTSIDETHERE'S NO KIND OF ATMOSPHERE
>>219782736The show needed sci-fi nerd shit AND Brit sitcom writing sensibilities, which is why Grant and Naylor balanced each other out.
I liked nuKochanski but she's pretty miserable until the vents episodeThen she becomes more of an Elaine or Sweet Dee type
Oh hey, I'm currently in the middle of a rewatch. Got to the start of series 6 last night.
>>219783273Grant was a psychology student and Naylor was into high concept sci-fi which is why post-6 you see less in-depth character studies on Rimmer and more episodes revolving around a new technology like 3D printing and genetic editing, although by Rimmerworld the Rimmer centric character pieces were getting played out anyway imo
>>219782736As far as I'm concerned the show ended after season 6.
>>219783323Psirens was the first ep of RD that I ever saw.
>>219783611>Psirens was the first ep of RD that I ever saw.Pete Tranter's sister, I'd let her suck my brains out with a straw if you know what I mean.
