>>219782245Yes there are a million Conan books. You don't read Conan books "like that" though. No one cares about "the epic". They're adventure serials. Would work as a Hercules-like show but we already had that. Hell we had a Conan TV show too but it was hilarious low-budget. And a cartoon. It's fun if you like camp but that really is what the books are "good for". No one would stomach them trying to make epic feature length films out of every single time Conan goes to a new town and wenches a new woman and fights a new shoggoth. It's pulp and was always meant to be pulp. You can squeeze it all together and make one good film out of the best parts but you're not going to get much more out of it.

This upset Arnold. The old stop motion Sinbad and Greek tales were seen as kids movies, so Conan was a fresh take, but then immediately tried to back step.I like Destroyer though, I just see what happened at the time. Then by the 90's Arnold had all but cemented himself as a sci-fi gun guy. Sword and fantasy as touched here and there, but it took LOTR to really bring it back.
