>>219791781His works are hard to adapt. Imo the only three good adaptations are 70s Wonka, original BFG, original Matilda and maybe The Witches. Funny how all of those are the old ones. They fuck up every time with the newer ones. Partially I think his work is best with a bit of fairytale darkness like in the books, but now we insist on making everything sanitised.

That being said picturing wonka and his factory as the villain and charlie as the le hecking "fighting against the system" proxy is a faggot move, even more so implying that he got to jail after the events of the first story, and that charlie always hated him for that.
>>219793166It's weird because the plot synopsis we've been given is like a "What if...?" aftermath of the 1971 movie, but it completely ignores Wonka giving Charlie the factory and just has him running it again now he's out of jail with Charlie still poor (and the other kids are all poor too, for some reason?). Violet turning into a blueberry is mentioned to have happened but Violet was only in the factory due to the tour, and the tour only happened because Willy needed an heir.
