IMDB is making me have to sign in to see user reviews. This is new.Is it the same for anons?
I just tried to sign in and was gonna create a spam account but it is trying to tie my amazon account to it. So seems like some sort of data scalping.
Stopped using it after they closed forums.
>>219803843I only ever use it whimsically just to see a review in the middle number to see if it is a shit movie or not.As you would know 1s and 10s are often fake so 5-7s are the only real reviews.
>>219803968Makes sense. I just moved to letterboxd. Miss the forums though; people were talking about interactions with actors in public and stuff. I only saw the positive side of the forums though; there was probably chaos happening deeper
>>219804094I basically only use chans to shitpost.I used to use some vidya forums decades ago, but seeing the clearnet has turned all PC and saying anything against the propaganda narrative gets you banned, I cant really use anything other than a place like this that has freedom of speech.I believe in internet anonymity and freedom of speech and these places don't, so I don't use them.
>>219803613Those are pretty useless since mePhone internet since 2008.
>>219804228If only the average internet user could be trusted to use the internet with respect. But those days are long behind us
>>219804094budd schulberg posted there a couple times
>>219803613I looked up to see if they were publicly traded or owned by another company and apparently Amazon has owned them since 1998. TILI've noticed they've also recently started pulling the "every image you save is .webp" shenanigans so this is probably another attempt to keep you strictly operating with their digital ecosystem to appease big daddy Bezos
>>219803613yup, that's another site i will never ever use again besides providing a general title + year and overall vague userscore for filmsseems to be a general trend, imdb is dying, /tv/ is dying rapidly (all my reports against Sam Hyde's continuous cancer was/continues to be met with complete silence, more moronic generals by the day, etc.)
>>219804328That is why I said in my 1st post, this seems like a data scalping move.Amazon already has a file of shit I have bought and looked at, mix that with IMDB so they have more data on what I watch, or would watch. Its all a data profile so they can advertise and sell me shit.Say if I signed in and started checking out arnie movies on IMDB, I will probably get arnie DVDs advertised to me on amazon. They already have me in vidya shit as I have "had to" sign up for twitch to get "free" shit in vidya (by putting some faggy stream on a tab to clock hours for free in game shit) Don't get me wring I am not tin foil hat paranoid, I dont really do anything illegal either, except torrent movies.Though I am against their whole jew schemes and data collecting and advertising to me.IMDB is not really something I use anyway and signing up with my amazon account is not something I would do so its not a big deal.Though its fucking gay, greedy and jewish..>>219804507Tranny spam here is a worse issue than the FTL threads.FTL is still a web series, so havinga general is OK but that tranny is spammed day in day out and mods are in on it.I have nearly a 2MB text file of MD5s just of that tranny alone and they spam new images every day.Get that, 2 fucking MB and they still spam new images. it is that fucking organized spamming.Been like it for years. Its lefty/pol/ pic related and mods do nothing about it.Even the baskin tranny is not as bad as those tranny loving freaks.
>>219803613I didn't bother making this post knowing /tv/ would. User submissions are now Bezos property, that much is clear. Now you have "popular reviews" at LTBXD to save you time. IMDB is only for cast/crew. (They bought out boxofficemojo and blocked AI from scrubbing that info.)
>>219804630It is so strange that both RT and IMDB, both fan made websites that were used by enthusiasts have both become full on corporate advertising and shilling.iirc at some point black panther (cape shit) was "the best movie ever created" on RT.Specifically when that drug addict negro in america stopped breathing. Negro lovers were spamming their shit. Some anons have an image of the top movies only like a decade ago, artistic movies that real movie buffs like, citizen kane for example, then modern day corporate shilling, capeshit etc.Irony too because that black panther flick is terrible as well, its not even a good capeshit movie.Point is, there doesnt seem to be an honest review aggregator for movies any more as the 2 major sites, the 2 that everyone uses have been overtaken by corporate shilling and propaganda activists.Sure we have letterboxd for some peoples opinions and we have similar movies to find movies but both are not good for aggregates. Also letterboxd also has the crazy propaganda shills and activists shoving their cancer on the site. Especially about faggots, tranny and their love of negros.IMDB fitted the niche of being able to get general reviews about a movies quality.I dont know of any other website that fits that use now.
>>219804749It's not that strange. They slowly built up their credibility and they started having a legitimate impact on the business side of cinema, which meant they couldn't allow this to continue operating without a leash. How many people have made it a habit to check the scores on both of those websites before buying a ticket. You flirt with the industry until it swallows you whole.
>>219804868I suppose strange was a wrong word. Its corrupt. The internet as a whole is completely fucked now, fucked by "the man"The system.Remember old internet and out battle with ads, pop ups etc. Now they have pop ups on pretty much every website about cookies as well as adverts embedded into things like YT videos. The internet as a whole, after the normie invasion and social media, is a worse version of the internet that we grew up with>It used to be for nerds and kids and now its for thirdies and shills.
We need to make a website called "Chan Reviews" to counter imdb, and then make that our primary review source, and no sign in bs, just anon style reviews that are straight to the point
>>219805034Yeah but trailers can be misleading. Especially B tier movies where they put all the cool looking parts in the trailer and then the rest of the movie is shit. What I do is check the trailer for a movie then look at the middling reviews on IMDB.I am not looking for someone opinions, just if there are glaring issues with the movie.Vidya I only need to see raw gameplay to know if I will want to play it.Movies they bait you with trailers and then movies can turn out to be complete shit, or visa versa of course.I dont watch movies as an enthusiast. Generally i watch movies to become zombified, often fall asleep to as it is a passive form of entertainment.I dont want to be spending 2+ hours watching absolute shit. Its why most of the time I just watch movies I have already seen before and know I will like.Again I am not watching movies as a large hobby, like I enjoy the act of watching movies so will watch anything.Often too I am looking for something that is specific for a genre I want to watch at that time.Unlike horror fans who eat any slop given to them, I am looking for specific genre movies that will evoke a certain feel at that specific time.
>>219805128>anon style reviews that are straight to the pointI really wish there was sites like that.not just for movies but for everything.Often when you read reviews for whatever product it is either some failed writer trying to make a generic advert, some enthusiastic retard trying to write flowery bullshit or someone being comical with a review having no bearing on the product.Of course shills and anti shills too.Never just straight information.Best we have is some steam reviews that just have pro and con lists. This problem is everywhere too. Amazon products, food reviews or even takeaway reviews online.Hotel reviews, vidya reviews, meta critic shit. List goes on.Anywhere there is reviews its a mix of the cancer I just mentioned.>>219805359I find that strange desu but each to their own.For me its synopsis, premise etc then trailer then quick check reviews.Of course some things I know I will like instantly. Like project hail mary. My type of movie. I even read the entire book premise after it was announced so I already knew the story but watched it (pirated the TS too) as its a good story and visually and tonally things I like.
>>219804749Minding east Asian stuff again, I'm reminded that other cultures constantly refer back to historical people and events going back hundred of years if not more. RT/IMDB's latest things are about cutting historical memories down to even less than 100~200, sometimes <20~50 years so people thing the latest GQ or Ent Weekly specials are the GOAT in history ever. Using race/etc to hide their control of public convo is a tactic of State Corporatism (the euphemism is "private public partnership".) E.g. Killers of Flower Moon is regional history/culture that is exaggerated to guilt everyone who happens to resemble the perps, while USG keeps covering up abuses/killings on military bases in US or overseas that is UNDER THEIR PURVIEW.
>>219805128A recommended /tv/ movies wiki would be cool, like the /v/ recommended videogames site
>>219804749>letterboxd also has the crazy propaganda shills and activists shoving their cancer on the site. Especially about faggots, tranny and their love of negros.LTBXD algos show 3 different takes mostly. A joke that is team gay/troons, then 2 reasonable ones. If not just search a title for some blog that looks reasonable. If it's too much work, just decide if sth is worth your time.
>>219805603We do have that to an extent with images.pic related.I have a few and /v. images as well.>>219805653I dont use the site much any more after I found best similar movies but I was thinking more of the lists.Like if I search for sci fi it would come up with shit like best sci fi to get fucked in the ass to (LGBTQ+approved movies)Some faggy shit like that.Point is none of it was honest and simple information which is all I am seeking.I do vaguely remember the reviews being as you said, a comical comment, serious comment etc.
