Why can't animated films look like this anymore? Who made that decision? How do we oust them?
>>219805536Go back to /a/
>>219805536Megacorpo did when 3D animation became easier/cheaper to produce
>>219805536>Why can't animated films look like this anymore?nobody is willing to invest money and time. cheaper and faster to cgislop it up
cel animation is literally dead
Anime market is saturated with so much slop there is no incentive to make things of higher quality
Modern anime looks so much better and it's effortlessly made compared to this.
>>219806314Shitty bait
>>219805536source?
>>219806354ghost in the shell, 1995
>>219805536Almost all the people that could do this have retired or are dead.Hardly any of their knowledge was passed down to the next generation. It's over. Animation is dead, in the west and east.
>>219805536Design wise it looks alright. The animation is crap though.Japs just don't have the money to make anything. Their economy tanked in 1991.If you want good looking animation in anime, it all happened in 86-91.
>>219805536Because it's a lot of fucking work and requires a very special conjunction of skilled people all in one place, the will to begin the project and the funding to keep it rolling along far enough to be released. It's the same reason you basically didn't see Metal Slug tier animated pixelart since those guys disappeared into the shadows all those years ago. Off the top of my head Redline was the last time a cinema grade "traditionally animated" feature was released.
>>219808781source?
>>219806599Second this, the institutional knowledge has been lost, it would take decades and probably billions of dollars of investment to train a new generation of animators to match this quality
>>219805937why cant computers 2d?

>>219805536parts of Ghost in the Shell look great, but there is also obvious use of limited animation>enormous exposition dump given by characters with backs turned to the audience in an elevator with nothing movingand the story is pretty hazy
>>219806017but its anime, its made for a pittance because they're paid about as much as the cost of a ramen packet per cel
>>219806599Sad but true. At least we have some classics to appreciate the lost art form that was cel animation.
The new super Mario movie looked great
Mars express had a neat animation style. All the tech looked believable and was industrial designed to look futuristic.
>>219805536Ju Jutsu Kaisen 3 just ended and the finale had this level of animation
>>219805536Japan was rich in the 80s Bubble era through the 90s. They had money to blow on animation shit. Now theyre poor, yen is worthless and let too many people enter their country
everyone notices it yet nothing changes
