>>219821885I'd rather they make a movie about his love letters.
>>219821885Maybe something like this? Just in the sense that it's his random thoughts as he wanders a town, except it's not inner thoughts but just rantings
>>219821990What? Everyone can recognize "from swerve of shore to bend of bay," that whole thing at the beginning. That's as far as anyone ever gets. I probably have more of Ulysses memorized word-for-word than books I've actually read and like.
>a dog in the last stages of rabies .. the booknever reading this shitfuck that drunk parasite
>>219821885how much do you need to know about Ulysses and that time period to understand this book?
>>219821885Thomas Pynchon eternally mogs Joyce. His books are better and more interesting, too. Joyce was more interested in showing off how smart he was, which made for dogshit plot and characters and increasingly trite novelty.
>>219823378It's an extremely detailed book about early 20th century Dublin. Knowing a fair amount about Irish culture and history, and history in general, and literature, and religion, and mythology, and language, and a bunch of other shit will help. It's a dense and often obscure novel. I like the Gabler edition, which comes with extensive notes that helps clarify and educate you about a lot of the content that may be obscure (a lot of it, its literature with a capital L).
>>219823441wait what does it have to do with Ulysses S Grant, the US president and general?
