Great fucking movie. Don't get the hate. The villain was 10/10.. Zoomers cant stop seething over it
>>
Lol no I'm 31 saw this in theaters with my ex on release and it was one of the biggest piles of shit ever. Only part that made me laugh was the ship in the bottle not growing and Jack saying "maybe it's cold" the rest was fucking shit. Javier Bardem being some weird undead pirate who uses undead sharks to attack other pirates was embarrassingly stupid
>>
>>219830520
Never saw the third one but agree with this
>>
>>219830475
No, it's just shit. You're retarded.

Film's bad largely because it's like, okay we did skeleton pirates, then we did pirates who are mutating into marine life and growing coral reefs on their bodies, now what? And they just had nothing to follow that up, really nothing.
Ghost pirates? But we can't just film the actors against a chroma key and set their opacity to 50 percent cause that'd look cheap, how about ghost pirates that are sort of crumbling away so they're only partially intact? SUCKS. I'm sorry, that's lame and doesn't come anywhere near to being as cool as the earlier curses

James Norrington should've been the main character of the franchise, with him forming an uneasy partnership with Jack Sparrow as they hunt down the titular pirates of the carribean.
Remove Will Turner and all female characters as well as Jack being Pirate Jesus being the center of every every storyline. Rewrite Dead Man's Chest to be about undead pirates being undead and loving it rather than them inexplicably trying to break the curse.
>>
>>219830671
What is it with Pirates of the Carribean and curses anyway? Like yeah it's the plot of the first movie, but why did it became the staple? Like the pirates in the other films don't even do pirate shit, they're just supernatural wibbity wobbities who are always looking for Jack Sparrow and/or Will Turner.
I swear the raid on Port Royal is the only actual piracy portrayed in the series. Fucking franchise may as well just be called Ocean Excorcist.

Better than nothing
>>
>>219830909
Oh ye beacuse classic pirate movies that are 100 percent historically accurate had SO much sucess
>>
>>219830909
Uncharted 4 got away from all the supernatural stuff and was better for it IMO, wonder if POTC could pull it off

I mean, yeah. Treasure Island will live on forever. Pirates of the Carribean's only identity is plagiarism, impressive CGI tentacles, and Amber Heard shitting the bed.
>>219831100
I didn't mean to imply that the films shouldn't have supernatural and mythological elements to them, just that it seems like after the first film they abandoned all pretense of piracy.
All of that shit is cool, but when your pirates don't ever do anything except act like bumbling retards who have no identity or motivation except to act as comic relief against a supernatural antagonist whose only motive is revenge, then what the hell's the point of it being pirates? Especially since they very quickly abandon the context of piracy, that being the geography of the ocean, naval combat, etc... in favor of just teleporting across the open seas and the supernatural elements overtaking the swashbuckling and choreography.
There needed to be a balance, and Dead Man's Chest was the closest they got to it. Everything afterwards, impressive as they are technically, is just embarrassing.

>Treasure Island will live on forever
Literally nobody knows this movie exists
>>
>>219831702
I do. Also, the Charleton Heston made-for-TV one with a very young Christian Bale as Jim Hawkins. Excellent soundtrack by the Chieftains, too.
(Yes, and the Muppets one--c'mon, man; that was fun!)
>>
The "original "trilogy" is actually great but everything afterwards was nothing but a pile of shit cash grab.
Your pic related being the worst perhaps.

Pirates has one of the most unqie characters in movie history. They also epitomize the glory of the 00s, pinnacle of human civilization, were we finally achieved freedom. Keep seething.
>>
>>219830475
Best film in the franchise is Dead Man's Chest. Everything after that fucking sucked

The trilogy is a complete clusterfuck of asspulls and nonsendical character developments. Atleast the Bardem one is a solid standalone blockbuster.

Why don't people actually want to watch pirates?
Why do they want to watch ghosts?

I read tons of pirate books and they're all incredible

Tim Curry and the animated one from 2003 was the best.

It's the worst Pirates movie apart from maybe 3 but it has the best visuals.
I marathoned all of these two years ago so they're relatively fresh.

Cloudflare fuckery has raped the site into the dirt, picked up again yesterday though.

Lost my job at the end of February, still looking for a job. It's awful and bearing heavy on my psyche.
No bitches or friends either. I've got one last chance this semester of college to get with a girl for summer. She's a hot Ethiopian who I always sit next to and made a strong impression with last week but it's a bit of a hail Mary, we'll see next week. If that doesn't work out I might turn to desperate measures in the coming weeks.
On the movies front I finally watched Color Out Of Space. Very good for nu-horror.
