it's a massive red flag. It's total death denial. This isn't healthy or a "positive" way to deal with death. On the surface it sounds like a nice, humble gesture. In reality it's the cheapening of something real (your death) so that it almost doesn't even occur as a real thing. Also it prevents other people from properly dealing with grief.

I remember my ex-girlfriend's dad being a hardcore atheist liberal type who always when asked would say that he wouldn't even want there to be an afterlife because he wanted death to be an ending where he could finally be at peace from all the bullshit of life. He got cancer at 58 and was dead 2 years later and the one thing I recall most is what a massive shift he underwent in that regard. In public he'd still put on an indifferent non-believer face but in private dude was practically breaking down in tears in fear of dying. Guy grew up in a heavily Christian household and it's like in his final months all of that suddenly came flooding back. It was pretty funny in a way although mostly just sad.
