Chani is one of the examples of a quite a faithful adaptation tweaking just one character, but with that tweak, the relationships with other, faithgully adapted, characters because weird and unbeliavble and underming the whole worldbuilding. Anothier example of this is movie Ron and Hermione, where he is worse compared to books, while she is better, making the entire dynamic of the trio a bullshit. Or Blackthorne in Shogun, he is dumbed down, while Mariko is like in the book, making her falling for an a boob seem unealistic.Movie Chani makes Stilgar's zealotry funny.
